The Metal gear games cover so much real life conspiracies that it goes over the heads of most brainwashed sheep gamers. MGS2 had one of the greatest stories in gaming? history, that most people did not understand. The  Zen talk Solid Snake gives to Raiden at the end of the game touches the players heart and soul like no other game before.

A post-modern video game masterpiece. If you can't accept playing as Raiden for one reason or another, you'll never see the brilliance of this game.

This game is spectacular, except for the fact that you have to play as effeminate Raiden throughout most of the game. I like playing as Snake!

it was really good, but it was kind of a letdown seeing how mgs4 is soooo great. mgs3 is really good tho

When I fist got my PS2 this was the 2nd game I got, and the 1st MGS game I had played. I have been hooked ever since. A great game!

@buding4curry Get both. If you have to get one then get 2, you won't really catch a lot of the plot points in 3 if you don't play 2 first.

Dredcrumb9

@YellowJello what you said makes no sense, MGS3 takes place before 2. So you would not be missing any plot points if you played 3 first.

If you skip the cutscenes and Codec you can beat it in 2 hours (Tanker and Plant). But if you watch them its about 7 or 8.

@ RetroGamerX11 Me too!! Except I played this one first then then Snake Eater, I'm currently playing MGS4 and i want to get MGS1. I'm pretty sure it will be rare to find so I'll get it over PSN, although i want the disk and case and manual.

I got into metal gear solid at the beginning of this year. MGS4 was the first one I played and beat, and now I want to smack myself for not playing the other ones first. I think they're all awesome, and I still play MGS2. I can't even pick a favorite because they're all good. Really great game.

". . . better then whats playing in the movies or whats on tv" [sic]. so true. i've thought about getting a PS2 to go back and play this and some other games but theres plenty of more recent metal gear games to keep me occupied.

Man! I love the bottle shooting at 4:15 because I remember being BLOWN AWAY at being able to do that. That shows that Hideo is not only a story visionary, but a true videogame visionary as well.

Simply the best game, and best story ever. Once you knwo the story, I don't see how anyone can have a bad word against it. Really powerful message.

This game seems to be one of the most hated on games. Having just beaten and played it for the first time a couple months ago, I can say this game is better then 99% of games this gen. And I got it for .75 cents.

Fantastic Game...I know many MGS fans dont like it as much for a bunch of reasons (not the least being that you're not snake for most of the game) BUT this this might be my favorite. The game play changes from MSG1 were great. I love the story and the cut scenes. I can replay this game over and over again (HA, and I do!)...simply fantastic.

whats so good about this game? Its pretty damn boring and repetitive :(

Dredcrumb9

@MaSaNa321 this game is amazing. I don't think you ever played it or maybe your Iq is too low for a deep and captivating game like mgs2?

First_Descent

As much as I love MGS2, I found it to be the weakest in the story. The first and third were absolutely amazing, especially the third, but MGS2 has Vamp, which is the greatest villain in the entire series!

Dredcrumb9
Dredcrumb9

@First_Descent MGS2 has one of the greatest stories ever told, the weakest story for a MG game would be Peace Walker.. Some of the most dramatic cut scenes and dialogue ever in a video game are in MGS2.

I just started the game today. It's great so far, Metal Gear Solid 1 was awesome, and I hope this is even better!

@hitman9898 watch the cut scenes. if your just skipping out on the story and codec dialouge, than you are missing out.

@hitman9898 2 hours? Methinks you´ve only played the tanker episode....

The game is really awesome it's just a bit too short. It took me 2 hours to beat.

One of the best action adventures ever made. Kojima is a genius.

Great game, it's a bit embarrassing how much Hal cries tho. He cries a lot in MGS4 too - he's a big cry baby.

Dredcrumb9
Dredcrumb9

@BudgetMonkey82 Would you rather have all generic tough guy characters like the cast of COD? Having cry baby hal in this game next to badasses like Snake and Raiden are what make this game such an epic and well rounded experience. You can really feel Hal's remorse for building such terrible weapons and all of the stuff he did in his past, it really gets the player emotionally invested in the game.
