A great addition to one of the greatest games I have ever played. MGO will keep you busy long after the credits roll.

User Rating: 8.5 | Metal Gear Online PS3
Metal Gear Online is a separate game. If it wasn't then I wouldn't have given MGS4 a 10. Kojima has done a great job in not making the online feel like a last minute add on. But like most multiplayer games this one has it's issues.

Gameplay: The game uses the same controls as MGS4. But your first few times playing this game will be your worst. You begin by having to sign up for a Konami ID then an MGO ID. Doing so is a pain. For example the game won't accept my password so I had to use my phone number as a password. Upgrading is a pain. Make sure you do NOT use Peer-to-Peer downloading. That means the more people downloading the upgrades and all that the faster. And no one is upgrading, trust me. You get to customize your character which is pretty cool. You get an good variety of weapons and I love the Drebin Points system. It gives you motivation to try your hardest. So players who do really well are rewarded. But when you get the best weapon and you get killed you lose all of your points and gotta start racking them up again. One thing I don't like very much is that sniping is easy. It's not a problem when you're the sniper :D. But it is when someone on the other team has found a good sniping area and that is often the case. One map has a very good sniping area but only one of the teams get it and usually that team will win. Also sometimes when players overuse CQC (close quarter combat) it can really annoy you. You will be knocked out waiting to revive and suddenly you get knocked out again. There are a lot of game modes on MGO, including Team Deathmatch, Deathmatch, my personal favorite Sneaking Mission when 1 player is Snake and 1 is the Metal Gear Mark II. Playing as the Mark II is a lot of fun. The instruction manual will say that you need an ethernet cable to play MGO. That is not entirely true but unless your router is on the same floor as your PS3 then you might experience some lag or you could be disconnected. One thing I love about this game is that it takes some skill to play (except for sniping though). Unlike games like Halo you need practice. Another thing that makes this unique is the use of the SOP system. With this you will know where your teammates are, where there are aiming there gun or where one was killed. But say an enemy is using your teammate as a shield or preforming CQC you will attempt to kill the enemy right? But you can only see his head. But if you hit your teammate your gun will lock and that gives the enemy a chance to shoot you. Sometimes Your shooting and one of your teammates runs in your way and you kill him sometimes you can get booted because of that. But other than that MGO is tons of fun to play online.

Graphics: It uses the MGS4 engine so you know what to expect. The game looks stunning. But MGS4 slightly looks better. But this is one of the best looking games I have played to date. There are no framerate issue just lag because of your connection. Kojima hasn't done very many online games. And this is probably their second or third online game so great job on keeping the framerate steady even with graphics this good.

Sound: The guns sound great like in MGS4. But when your character gets shot at the voice will sound a little cheesy. You get to choose which music to play from any Metal Gear game while you're playing an online match. So say I wanna listen to the MGS4 Shadow Moses theme and play online you can do that.

Value: MGS4's single player alone was worth the $60 it had everything you wanted in a single player campaign. And they added a separate online game which you get buy purchasing MGS4. This is a great game and I strongly recommend you play this game after or during playing MGS4. But do NOT buy MGS4 just to play the online you will be disappointed. Thanks for reading this and I hope this helps you out.
