Wait until this comes out for $20 or less before you buy. Graphics are a HUGE dissapointment.

This game was hyped up for so looooong! I enjoyed the first Mercs immensely, and was expecting more of the same with a bunch of updated aspects....boy was I wrong.

GFX: I have an above average system :C2D e6750 @3.2ghz, 2gb ram, Nvidia 8800GT Superclock 512 etc etc and the gfx selection for this game does not go above 1024x768 (with associated widescreen modes as I do not have a widescreen monitor) which is not good. For some reason selecting 8x Anti-aliasing does absolutely nothing. And why do the color palettes seem to be in 16bit color only? Explosions leave MUCH to be desired. The GFX in this game should NOT be this bad.

Gameplay: Gameplay is what you'd expect from the original mercs game. Run, shoot, jack cars and other vehicles. Weapons are pretty much more of the same, which isn't horrible but isn't good either. The new interactive context when jacking certain vehicles is interesting, but the button Icons are a bit confusing. Took me a couple of trial and errors to get it right.

Audio: The audio is decent. Voice acting is absolutely horrible but the gunfire is not too bad. The gun reports are varied and crisp. Vehicles (cars really) don't sound too good. Tanks are ok, but nothing too spectacular. Music....what music? I am guessing the music system is dynamic as it changes only when you are in the middle of some sort of action....and it doesn't vary.

Control: Standard FPS/third person controls. The one thing that I wish they would have implemented is a sight zoom (other than sniper rifle) or iron sights view at the click of a mouse button. It kind of zooms in when you crouch, but I'd rather walk upright at times while using my sights. Camera gets confused at times, obstructing your view with bushes or cars when you are trying to take cover. Vehicles are sluggish to respond to controls (cars mainly). Tanks are sluggish IRL so I guess that control scheme fits.

AI: Horrible. Guys will sit there and do nothing while I fire at them. They will get their vehicle stuck amongst what is seemingly nothing in the road. ANd how many times am I going to hear one of my enemies point out exactly where I am. "He's behind the tree", "he's behind that car", "He's behind that bush", "he's taking a pee!" (ok maybe they don't say I'm peeing, but for those who have played this, they will get it) ANd what is with me blowing up a truck with a gunner and he just jumps off and starts firing at me?

Overall: I would NOT recommend this game to anyone paying full price. This is a bargain bin game that is using a dated engine and very dated GFX. I hope Pandemic patches this as soon as possible. It could have been a good game, but not a great game.
