It keeps on rolling . . .

The series just keeps getting . . . the same . . . well, that is pretty much all I can say about that. The Mega Man games take a simple formula and change the elements each time. First, you have an opening stage. Then you introduce a bad guy. Then list 8 stages to complete. Then take the quest to the final boss (Sigma). And finally finish the game. I am not say that the game isn't fun, but a little more variety than the same elements would not be too much to ask.

The bosses in this game include Blizzard Buffalo, Blast Hornet, Gravity Beetle, Toxic Seahorse, Volt Catfish, Crush Crawfish, Tunnel Rhino, and Neon Tiger. The problem I see with this is the same basic elemental characteristics are there. You have a snow level, a grass level, a water level, a mechanical level, and so on. These all correspond to a boss that fits the same elemental characteristic. Not that I have a huge problem with that, but I think they could have used a little creativity.

The mechanics of Mega Man are mostly the same. You can play as Zero, but even boy blue has some nice feautres. You can charge up your blaster for a mightly plasma beam or special effects with the special weapons. You can also collect Ride Armors that provide special weapons and features to move through certain levels. The upgrades to Mega Man are also limited. There is a set of four upgrades where you have to make a choice of which one you want. Other than those four, the other upgrades are good to go.

The game is very fun, even with the same tired old formula. A little upgrade in the game may provide for a different and more fun experience.
