Though met lukewarm back in the day, Megaman Legends is certainly a game that any Megaman fan or action fan looking for an interesting story can enjoy. Set thousands of years after the original Megaman sreies, the game takes place on an ocean-covered planet Terra as humanity clings to its last know resource: large crystal-like structures known as Refractors. The main character is Megaman Volnutt, a 14-year old boy who explores various ruins scattered around the planet looking for treasure, know as a digger. He is joined by his best friend and mechanical genius Roll, along with her grandfather and Data, a mechanical monkey. After a successful dig, Volnutt and his team crash land on Kattlox Island and soon become embroiled in a plot to find a legendary treasure, said to bring about a great tragedy to the island. The story and characters are definintely two of the game's biggest selling points. The characters are instantly likable and voice acting is surprisingly good. The games controls have been subject of one of the game's biggest faults, specifically the lack of analog capability and having to use the shoulder buttons to steer. After a bit of time with game, however, the controls eventually click and feel surprisingly natural. Graphically, Legends' art style suits the game perfectly. The bright, anime-esque presentation helps give the game a soft, lighthearted feel while the twisted, sinister designs of the game's enemies keep things tense. As far as audio goes, the game's soundtrack is passable if forgettable. All in all, Megaman Legends is definintely a game that shouldn't be missed.
