Mega Man. Even if you have never played one of his games, you still know the name. The blue bomber has starred in over 30 games and many of them follow the same forumla. However, there were a couple of games that didn't follow the traditional Mega Man formula. One of them, was Mega Man Legends. And it kicked ass.

You control everyone's favorite blue colored hero Mega Man. You land on a mysterious island with your family which consists of Roll, your granfather Barrel, and the weirdest character, the monkey Data. On this new island, you start off by helping local townsfolk do very simple things. Eventually, the town needs your help and asks you to help save the town. Throughout the game, you'll continue to explore different dungeons and get new items and weapons.

Probably one of the best things in this game are the villians. The Bonne family serves are your main adversary. No Sigma or Dr Wily in this game. Well actually one of them is in there, but this time he's a good guy. The most standout is Tron. It's entertaining to watch her be such a villian to having mixed emotions about Mega Man. The Bonne family is almost always entertaining.

The control is very much like driving a tank in other games. You use the shoulder buttons to position Mega Man and then move him in said direction. While this may turn some gamers off, it's fairly easy to get used to and not a continuing problem.

Combat is also very simple. Mega Man can shoot, jump, kick, dodge roll, and has plenty of other weapons at his disposal. You can equip different parts to upgrade your Mega Buster and equip many other side weapons which Roll can upgrade for a price of course. Some of the side weapons range from very useful to utterly useless.

Mega Man Legends is one of the best Mega Man games that didn't follow the traditional Mega Man formula. Making the jump to 3D prooved to be an amazing move. If you are a Mega Man and haven't played this or own this, you owe to yourself to do so.
