Everything you would want from a Mega Man game but just yurning for a change.

Well, it must be summer. Why? Because there's another Mega Man Battle Network game out for the Game Boy Advance. All right, let's go through the basics. One person bent on using a piece of technology and control the world, check. Lan and MegaMan are the only ones that can stop him, check. Graphics same from the previous game, check. A tuturioal in the beginning of the game so that just by chance you forgot how the other 4 games went, you're reminded, check. A new piece into the game that would "redefine the series", check. Well, look like it's all here.

Seriously folks, I like the Battle Network series. However, Capcom has their way of reproducing everything from the game before it and only adding one new thing. It's been like that for most of their games (legends excluded). Battle Net 2 had everything Battle Net 1 had, but its new thing was the Style Change. Battle Net 3 had everything from 1 and 2, except its new thing was the Navi Customizer. Battle Net 4 had everything from the first three, but instead of Style Changes they had the Double Souls. So what does Battle Net 5 have to offer? Liberate Missions. But we'll get to that in a minute.

Mega Man Battle Network 5: Team ProtoMan and Team Colonel aren't that bad that you shouldn't get them. As of now, Mega Man Battle Network 5 is the best in the series. But that doesn't say much when the next Mega Man game is the "best in the series" The graphics are the same as the previous game. The battle layout is still the same as are the controls. The sound has been tweaked better, but it isn't as good as it should be.

Now, back to the Liberate Missions. This time, the Liberate Missions are the new thing. In a turn-based strategy combat system, you'll have to plunge your team in clearing the way to the big boss while completeing it in a certain number of phases. If you do less than the amount, you get a special battle chip. More, and you just get zenny. While the good thing is that you can take control of other characters besides Mega Man, the downside of it lies in the fact of it's battle layout. When you go to clear a panel, you have three turns to do it in. And most of the time, the ally you're controlling isn't the right one for the job. It can be time consuming and frustarting at times when you can't progress.

Now I'm not here to bash Mega Man. As I said, I like the Battle Net series. And as it goes Mega Man Battle Network 5 is a good game, much better than Battle Net 4. However Capcom should really step up and stop adding just one thing to their Mega Man games and focus on a more devleoped storyline then what it's been for the past 4 games.
