The game is great and finally has new stuff added to it.
Story: Lan and his friends were invited by his dad to check out a new technology he developed, but before Dr Hikari can even demonstrate, a mysterious group suddenly infiltrated the building and knocked everyone out with sleeping gas. While everyone was unconscious the group stole everyone’s PET (apart from Lan’s) including their Net Navis, on top of that they also kidnapped Dr Hikari.
After Lan fully recovered he went back to the laboratory, where all of a sudden the computers went wrong, while he was investigating Megaman came across Protman, but all of a sudden Protoman attacked and a fierce battle went on, after a few moments Chaud appeared, claiming that Lan passed his test. Chaud then explained that he was forming a team in order to counterattack the group, who were called Nebula, and Lan also learned that their leader was Dr Regel. Lan joins forces with Chaud in order to put a stop to Nebula’s uprising as well as rescue his Dad and his friend’s Net Navis.
Game deign: The game is basically an RPG. Graphics are the same as in Battle Network 4, except the worlds were tweaked a bit. As usual you play as Lan in the real world and play as Megaman in the Internet world. Characters are given new artworks and you will be reading lots of dialogues as usual.
There are also lots of side quests and can obtain power programs for Megaman.
Game play: Like previous games Megaman has his buster and can also use battle chips for more firepower. There are a couple of new things added to the game. One major feature is the Liberation missions. Unlike the regular Internet you can’t exactly free roam. During the mission you will have more playable characters. You will start out with Megaman and Protoman. You can gain new team members as you progress through the game and each with their own abilities. Apart from Megaman each character will have his/her own special battle chips. You don't have to worry about upgrading the other characters because their own operators will do the job, you just have to focuse on Megaman.
Megaman’s special ability is using Soul Unison, so Megaman can unite with his teammates and can perform their attacks. You can now also obtain dark chips, dark chips are strong battle that can also be used to turn Megaman into dark counterparts of his soul unisons (e.g. Dark Protoman unison), dark unison is more powerful than the normal unisons but using this for long can overdrive Megaman and the dark chip can turn against him.
During liberation you have to move from block to block, there are normal blocks and dark blocks, the mission is turn based so each character can have a number of moves, once you move to a dark block you will battle viruses, the battle difficulty will depend on your position. You can obtain bonus items such as extra steps or HP recoveries. At the end of each liberation mission there are bosses, defeat the boss and you have successfully liberated the area. You can save during liberation mission but with only one particular character, once that character is dead you cannot save, but don’t worry, because characters return after an entire phase.
Another new addition is that you can now face different directions since there are enemies behind, but that can of course increase the game’s difficulty.
Sound: There are new music added to the game but otherwise sound effect is still the same.
What should have been added to the game is the option to battle again or quite once you are deleted, even until now they still haven’t added that.
Although the liberation mission is new the game still has its old weaknesses.
Never the less, the game has managed to add new stuff to the series and should be a good buy for fans of the series and RPG fans.
The liberation missions are fun and the story is very intresting.
