With a little bit of fun comes a lot of frustration. EDIT has been added.

Now I'm a pretty hard core Megaman fan, and I have bought almost every game from every Megaman series, but I have never played ANYTHING like this.

Tons of people LOVE this game only because it "takes megaman back to his roots," and by this they mean: You can't charge your mega buster, you can't slide, and the graphics are 8-bit. Now I don't like to complain but WTF! In Megaman 8 you could charge your mega buster and slide. For a game like this, you'd need those kinds of things sense the difficulty is off the walls. You get used to it after a while, and it becomes less of a problem.

The main problem I have with this game is that A LOT of it is trial and error, and by this I mean you have to memorize levels, playing them over and over again. This game can also be very unfair with some of it's jumps, you could be near the very edge of a ledge and not make a jump, falling to your death. There are tons of pitfalls and spikes along with enemies. You can die pretty easily just like in any other Megaman, but in this one, it's even easier. You have to know where absolutley everything is, in some levels, in order to beat them, that's not fun, that's annoying. There are very few checkpoints in this game as well, you will find yourself going back to the very beginning of a stage very often. Sub bosses are hard at first and get easier because they have patterns, you keep fighting them over and over again until you have the pattern down, more trial and error. Just like in the other good old Megaman games, once you start beating some of these levels and bosses, you feel satisfied that you did it, or, you might just have regrets and wonder why you are still playing the game. If there is anything I do like about this game, it's the music, I find it to be quite catchy and memorable. It was nice the game had a shop, because if it didn't, it would be unplayable.

This game has a challenge system or in other words, achievements. Some of them are easy like killing 500 enemies, all the way up to the near impossible ones such as beating the entire game without getting hit. I donno about you, but I think some of these achievements are pretty messed up, and if anyone actually got all of them, they have too much time on their hands, WAY too much time on their hands.

I thought the bosses were kind of boring, not that they weren't challenging, it's just that almost all of them have 1 or 2 attacks, you know what to expect because they repeat these attacks. Why are they hard? Those 1 to 2 attacks they have can be incredibly difficult to avoid. Pretty much, the bosses are also trial and error.

Probably the stupidest thing I saw in this game, which I think is the stupidest thing I've seen in ANY game, is that there is an enemy that is actually disguised as an extra life. The game lies to you, "It's an extra life" but when you walk up to it, it's an enemy! I guess that adds a little more trail and error, even if that enemy is only in 1 level and not that strong, it is still retarded.

The Dr.Wily stages are basically all 1 big stage. Your weapon energy doesn't refill between levels and you can't buy anything from the shop between levels. Saving becomes useless, know why? Because the very next time you go to stage select, you have to start from the very first Wily stage and do it ALL over again. Challenge is 1 thing, but that is freakin' heartless.

I could only beat this game once, because when I did, I made a vow to never play the last level ever again. In conclusion, I think the game is pretty bad. You might enjoy this game yourself, but I'm warning you: This game WILL challenge your patience.

Oh yeah, and the music that plays during the main menu is pretty annoying.

EDIT: I realize after playing some of the previous megaman games they a similar to this one. And so, a few of the things I said before I don't mean much anymore. However, my oppinion stays the same because this game was still an unpleasant experience for me. If you disagree with my review, fine, but just remember I have some very good points about the game.
