One of the best in the series. Great gameplay and amazing combat; a worthy sequal to that masterpiece: "Rome"

User Rating: 9.5 | Medieval II: Total War PC
I bought "Medieval II Gold Edition," and even though I had to buy a new video card to get to run well, it was worth the expense. I was a big fan of "Rome: Total War" (I bought the Gold Edition of that as well), and since I am a history buff who is interested in those time periods, I got Medieval. 120 turns into the short campaign, I had destroyed Scotland, taken or bought all but 1 French region, and am busy at hammering the Danes and protecting by frontiers. This is an amazing game, but the turn-based parts are probably too complicated for a beginner who has never played a Total War game. I have encountered no technical errors yet, but I am wondering why my cavalry don't really use their lances when charging. As for gameplay, I am usually hard up for cash, so I use the "add_money 40000" cheat. In accomplishing all of the above, I only use a few cheats: the money one (often), "toggle_fow" (rarely), "process_cq" (sometimes), and on rare occasion others that make a priest or an assassin more good at what they do. The expansion pack, "Kingdoms," is also very fun, but is quite difficult at times. All in all, this is a great game. 4.75 stars out of 5.
