1 Like Couldnt agree more Ladiesman. Very little has changed in the last 200 years except now a few big nations like USA, UK etc want to leave the map how it is (unless they want to take something). So what they all did in the 1600s taking the lands of others is now considerd off limits. Its a pretty good system, take all the land, take all the power, then tell anyone who tries to follow that its wrong. Cartman nailed it, "we will build a country based on saying one thing and doing another and we will call it the United States of America". You could substitute USA for basically any western power.
It's funny how much controversy this new MOH has started on GS. None of this happened when the 1st one came out, nothing like this was ever brought up about ANY of the COD games or even HOMEFRONT, which actually surprised me. Now all of a sudden we have all these "politically correct" and "conspiracy nuts" all over the website. It's pathetic. Yes, governments lie...yes, wars aren't the greatest...yes, most of you are f***in' morons because you don't know the first thing about war because your not Service Members like myself who actually serve on the frontlines (on my 4th deployment FYI). @Dudeinator He said OPINION. There's a big difference between KNOWING why you're doing something coupled with the events that lead you to do it and having an OPINION about it. Does a soldier really care what geopolitical events lead him to be in another place doing his job? No. He may and should know full well what events were the catalyst and WHY he's there, however at the end of the day his opinion one way or the another is irrelevant. That's what he's getting at.
@Dudeinator He's talking about your mindset when you're in the position that he's been in. If you're sitting there having doubts about why you're there and whether or not you should be doing it then it's going to get people killed. That kind of thinking is a distraction you can't afford. When it's kill or be killed, you can only afford to think about the mission - achieving your objective while keeping you and your mates alive.
There are very few things that can compare in civilian life because the stakes aren't usually nearly as high as life and death.

The military is an environment like no other. It's a place where everyday you can push your limits and know, when the shit gets tough you know that the guy next to you, no matter whether they are black, white, hates your guts or is your best mate, will dive in with you and risk their lives to save yours. That comradeship, mateship in Australian terms is what drives these people.
Being bipartisan is an important part of a deployed force. Nothing is ever black and white and when you are on the ground, you cannot question your orders as to whether they are right or wrong. They just follow the order. The moment you start to think or question, is the moment you loose yourself. If not physically, through a bullet, mortar or shell, you'll definitely to start to loose your mind.

That is the point. A soldier does not "choose" to pull a trigger, but pulls it because he was ordered to. Discretion does not exist in the military - especially not in the special forces. They don't pick idiots for the role of special forces; they pick people who know what they need to do when they need to do it.
The SAS is not comprised of grunts with big muscles and fast runners, but rather doctors and other highly educated people.

This is the difference. Someone actually says it all. These guys go in with very little support to scout and find out what's happening. If you start to think about why you are there why is it happening and stuff like that you will get killed. The focus point of your action is what they change. You are there with a team and you are there with a purpose. You have to get in and get out while not losing any of your team-mates. He didn't say in one word that war is fun. It's not pro war propaganda at all. He didn't say come sign up be a cool guy like i am. He just said what they do.
2 Like I am not against fun in action games like COD or MOH but i would've liked to see a big developer with a lot of budget try to show war for what it really is instead of saying that hey you're a soldier, it's not in your best interest to ask why you're killing these people. That would've been more appealing but I guess many just want to feel like a badass and kill the motherf**ng foreigners(mostly middle eastern) who are against them.
