First my configuration:
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @stock
2GB DDR II 667Mhz RAM
Standard 1TB SATA II HDD
MSI nVidia Geforce 560Ti Twin Frozr II 2GB card
I understand that this configuration is pretty dated, but I haven't faced such major issues with any other engine, apart from this one.
Here's the issue:
- Cut-scene stuttering
- Intro sequence is fine. But after I enter Somalia, that's when it slowly falls into a momentary sound loop, locks-up and crashes.
These were the same problems I had with Battlefield 3 as well. I have all the latest drivers, Windows 7 was fresh installed as well. Heck, the same thing happened when I had my HD4850.
I'm flummoxed as to what exactly is causing this and it's affecting every Frostbite 2 engine game (didn't check Need for Speed: The Run).
Any thoughts folks?

You may have gotten away with it before but this one is really at the edge of next-gen.
Isn't Black Friday right around the corner?

I was thinking unstability, but since you say it only happens to frost 2.0, then this doesn't seem to be the case.

You could try underclocking your 560ti to 850mhz using MSI Afterburner (I had some crashes due to a dodgy gigabyte overclock, but once I reduced it they stopped completely), and also ramping up your fan speed when it gets too hot. It may help with the crashes. But honestly, new CPU and more ram is what I would be getting next.
Good luck with it all :)

Don't get me wrong, when it works it looks and feels gorgeous...but to have these issues on a AAA title with Danger Close having no idea how to fix them? Extremely disappointing.
If it helps at all, after reinstalling my onboard sound drivers (of all things) and disabling any sound device that isn't currently in use via device manager, the freezing happened slightly less often so that the game became somewhat playable. Hope this helps you a little bit : /
