There are a lot of World War shooters out there. Some are worth your time while others are there to be laughed at, but this is a Medal of Honor game. This is not a good game, this is a gripping adventure that re tells some iconic moments throughout WWII.

The whole point of the game is to do all the work. Your team mates tell you what to do, and you do it. Don't rely on them to provide cover fire or heal you, because they won't. Missions are nice and varied. You'll be hijacking a machine gun turret, planting smoke grenades to mark watchtowers, and even exploring and bombing a U-boat. Not only are the missions fresh and fun, but they capture the feel of the whole battle. Sometimes it can feel like you are there yourself, which is great. Since it's a war, the graphics can look a bit muddy at times. Other times, they look quite polished a well done. I did have issues with the frame rate though, which can lag a bit while in the middle of the action.

Controls are a pain to get used to. Aiming, shooting and reloading all feel very weird. It feels like the recoil is to high for some guns, the reloading some times doesn't work and aiming is quite stiff. Given all these, you can work with these. Keep at it and you'll learn them. I found the game to be disappointingly short, like around 6 hours. It's a big shame because the game is brilliant. This is an amazing example of how to create a fun and interesting shooter. While it can be limited due to the lack of any other mode apart from the campaign, it's a memorable experience.

What makes the game unforgettable is the incredible music score. You get a lot of WWII themed songs in other games but so far, none beat the music in Frontline. Once you hear it, you'll never forget it. Voice acting fits the game perfectly. It's not too low key or over the top. They actually tried for once.

Medal of Honor: Frontline is a magnificent experience on the PS2. Even the annoying controls and frame rate can't dampen the gameplay. What makes it even better is, you can find it for practically nothing these days, which makes it a more than essential purchase.
