Medal of Honor: European Assault User Review

It's fun occasionally, and will keep you busy, but there are a lot of games better out there than this one

Since there are so many WWII game out there, I should have left this one on the shelf and gotten a different WWII shooter. European assault, EA's latest Medal of Honor game, is fairly boring, broken, and bring a little embarrassment to the MOH series. European assault features a very short campaign around some parts of Europe in 1st person. You take control of William Holt, who is also telling the story. Gameplay: poor. The A.I, both enemy and friendly, are so stupid that they can be a real pain. When ever you try to heal your allies, they will always move away from you because they "think" that they are getting in your way. So when ever you move, they move. The enemy A.I is very dumb and simple. 90% of the time, they will stay behind a crate, shoot, cover, and reload. Then the process starts all over again never ending. Shoot, cover, and reload. Once you memorize this easy pattern, you can just throw a grenade and in 5 secs you will see 6 Nazis, flying in all directions. The enemy tanks in the game are just as stupid. Most of the time you will never have the hard-to-find rockets so you will have to rely on your grenades to blow up the tanks. Your only option is to strafe around the tank, chuck grenades at it, which sometimes bounce of, causing you to take damage while avoiding the tank"s turrent, which most of the time, wont even fire back at you. It will take about 7 grenades to blow up a tank. And lets not forget the Nazis that are shooting at you from all directions, while your allies are almost dead because they are impossible to heal because of their stupidity. The aiming however is pretty steady (unlike Call of Duty: Finest hour), and you will get good kills at enemies from far away. But then again, all you can do is take cover behind a crate, peek around the corner, and pop of a few rounds, and the battle will be won. Sometimes, once you kill some Nazis, another group will replace the dead ones enlessly which will happen in the last mission of the game. The ally control is very simple. One button has your comrades follow you, and the other will issue an attack command. Sometimes, your allies arent even going to move. Graphics: The graphics in European assualt has its + and -. Most missions, especially the last one, have good battlefield designs. The guns have good designs too, and all have different firing rates. The game is very intense, with allies(that you cant control) and enemies being constantly being blown up. But, the problem in this game is that the dropped weapons are represented by a blue pistol. I went through almost the whole game thinking that I was passing up on pistols. Also, the HUD looks ridiculous. Sound: Sound is very good in European Assault. All weapons sound differently with their firing rates. Also, if you are hit with a blast such as a grenade, your ears will ring you will go in slow-mo for a brief time period. There are lots of voices in the game, and many characters sound different. They even got the real William Holt, to tell the story in some parts of the game.

Value: Just horrible. Only 11 missions, and no online play, means you can beat this in just 4-5 hours. EA made the game very difficult, even on easy mode, where they thought that it will increase the play time.

Overall advice: Unless you are a MOH fan, don't get this game. Wait till it drops to 10$ or just get MOH: Frontline. Its more enjoyable.
