This is by far the worst WW2 game I have played. I'm putting aside the fact that it was released several years ago, because 'fun' is a constant no matter the year, and this game is not fun.

Graphics: The graphics are alright, but far from amazing. Environment's are not destructible, meaning that if you shoot a rocket launcher point blank into a small stone wall, not so much as a pebble of it breaks off. The enemy units are also well hidden and I usually have to get shot at before I know where they are. The 'sprint' action causes the screen to shake with a camera blur that gives me a headache within a few seconds. Nothing about the movement of the people is fluid. The smoke is dark and boxy. Everyone pretty much has the same face. Environments are heavy on the black. The frame rate is very poor. Enemy soldiers would just appear in front of me in the middle of a fight, and sometimes they'd disappear two seconds later. Despite this game being from 2007, it's still on a next gen system, and frankly I've seen PS2 games look more impressive than this.

Control: The control is not very good. The button layout isn't the best, even with the 3 various button map options they give you. Unlike most shooters, you are unable to lay on your stomach to snipe people. You can only crouch, which in most cases still leaves your head exposed over the small walls they supply for cover. Unless you take refuge behind some large wall or pillar you're going to get shot in the head and killed very fast. They planned on this happening, and so instead of being able to snipe prone or perform the "pop up - shoot - pop down" approach, you can 'peek' out from behind walls. This is done by standing behind a wall, aiming, and hitting left or right. This may sound like a good thing but it executes terribly. The aim recticle is very shaky and hard to target on enemies, and even if you do, the kickback from weapons forces the recticle upwards at a very annoying rate. Usually your best bet in actually hitting an enemy is just spraying the whole area he is in. Of course this wastes a lot of ammo, which you will NOT have a lot of in this game. I suppose in an attempt to make it seem more 'real', ammo is rather scarce in this game, so conservation is key. Cycling through grenades is also a pain. You cannot throw a grenade while holding your gun. You have to switch to grenades using a separate button, throw the grenade, then use a second button to go back to your gun. Having to hit the gun button several times to cycle to the gun you want is also a hassle. You'll have to cycle through the handgun every time to get back to your original weapon. The handgun, by the way, is completely useless in this game.

Sound: The sound in this game is very subpar. Gunfire all sounds relatively the same no matter the weapon. Machine gun fire sounds like microwave popcorn. Handgun fire sounds like someone popping bubblewrap. Explosions from tanks and rocket launchers are no more louder than a shotgun blast. When a grenade lands near you, it sounds more like a quarter fell out of your pocket than a heavy explosive. It makes a little 'tink tink' sound. Unlike most WW2 shooters, there is no intense sounds of bullets whizzing past your ears, compelling you to find cover. Explosions do not make your ears ring. All of your allied troops have the same voice, and they will often bark nonsense during play, which will suggest to you what to do next. They'll yell things like 'cover me!' or 'get on the roof!' and other scripted things. The enemy soldiers also have a set of a few fun German phrases that they repeat over and over, and over, in the same exact voice.

Gameplay: Fun? Not so much. You begin every mission by falling out of the sky, trying to sluggishly maneuver yourself into a 'safe zone' to avoid landing on top of the enemy. Landing on the enemy means you will be shot and killed before you even have control of your guy. Once you land in the safe zone, your character staggers for a few seconds before his gun is up and you have control. From this point you can go in one of several directions, each having it's own objective to complete which vary mission to mission. You'll blow up ammo caches, plant bombs on AA guns, etc. Nothing new here. Enemies you kill in a section will come back to life when you die if you have not completed the task in that section. You have a health bar to keep track of, which only has 4 units to it. This will disappear very fast so you will have to do a lot of trail and error to figure out every section. The AI is often in the same places each time so often it's just a matter of memorizing the positions time after time. The AI of your allies is average. You'll see a lot of them running straight to their deaths in the open. Other times they sit and hide and do nothing. The AI of the enemy is either very stupid or so good it's not fair. One minute five enemy soldiers will bottle neck down a hallway waiting for you to shoot them like cans on a log. Other times they'll pull off some impossible maneuver and kill you from 400 feet away. Their aim is very good. TOO good in fact. I only did a full play through on the regular difficulty setting, so I can just imagine what annoyances the hard version has to offer.

Overall I'd say this is a pretty terrible game. Like some people have said, there is an interesting mission at the end, but getting there is hardly worth the trouble. The load times are tragic. When trying to pass difficult boards, I spent more times on a loading screen than I did actually playing. between the death sequence, loading time, and falling out of the sky, expect at least 60+ seconds between every death & game time. Even the older MoH games like Rising Run and Frontline crush this game, and they're twice as old. If you're looking to add to your 360 gamer score, this game offers a few easy points, but half of the possible points are all in online multiplayer ranked matches. Anyone who is playing this online these days with all the other good FPS's out there is wasting there time, and that goes for those playing it offline as well.
