Too difficult but you just can't stop playing

A lot of games today need to take notes from MDK 2 about how to become addictive.
First of all, this game barely has loading times, every time you die you instantly go back to the last check point, you don't have to sit through 30 seconds of loading and then go back to the main menu and again wait while the game is saving and all that, like in most games today, you die - you try again, no waiting, no BS.
Another thing is the varied action, what ever happened to single player games with different classes to play in each level? there are 3 different classes in MDK 2: Max is a dog with 6 hands, you can equip each hand with a different gun while playing him, his levels are mainly run-and-gun.
Dr.Hawkings is this crazy doctor, his levels require you to pull a McGyver by combining items you find and making stuff out of them that will help your progress.
And finally we have Kurt, who's levels are a mixture of shooting, platforming and sniping.
Every character is completely different yet fun in it's own way.
Now for the things I didnt like about the game: the first thing I didn't like is the graphics, it's not that they're not good, in fact they're great, even by today's standards this game holds up, not because of a high polygon count or whatever but because of the art design and the characters, it also runs very smoothly with no slow downs, but one thing disappointed and that was that sometimes when, for example, a big crate explodes then some of the pieces that fly from the explosions aren't actual 3d models, they're 2d sprites, I don't know why they did that but it makes them game feel like a PS1 game and not a Dreamcast game.
The other thing I didn't like about this game is the insane difficulty level, I usually don't have a problem with difficult games and I actually think that games today are much too easy and unsatisfying, but this game was just too difficult, not once and not twice I shut my dreamcast off with frustration, praying for god to give me the strength needed to hold myself from breaking the disc.
Overall this is a great game that is still fun even today, I'd recommend it to anyone who has a dreamcast and likes action, adventure and platforming games.
