It's not Dance Dance Revolution, but it's not half bad either.

It would be nice to have a real DDR game on the Gamecube, but since there is not Mad Catz stepped up and offered MC Groovz Dance Craze. It is a pretty good game and despite some flaws holds up pretty well against DDR. The biggest problem is the game does not have a lot of polish to it, not much flash. The colors are not as vibrant and unlike DDR the backgrounds are fairly stale. Ultimately this gives the game a lot less personality than the game it's based on. Additionally the game does not feel nearly as responsive. This is likely to be a problem with the dance pad though, as Mad Catz dance pad feels a little thicker or had more padding than the DDR pad. That being said though, MC Groovz has one very big advantage over DDR. The music selection is much better. There are not as many tunes to select from, only 25 in fact. But these songs are not just the standard techno, house, or dance remixes that are all too familiar to DDR fans. Instead MC Groovz has disco classics from Earth Wind and Fire, KC and the Sunshine Band, and Peaches and Herb. There are also recent Top 40 songs from Jessica Simpson, Jewel, and Kevin Lyttle. And for those who have to have it there are still several club/techno songs included. So for those on Gamecube who've been waiting for a DDR type game or for DDR fans who were sick of the usual type of music MC Groovz Dance Craze is a nice alternative and something that should be looked into.
