They should have stuck with the first two versions. This one is miles away from a decent shooter.

Oh my... I was really looking forward to this. The first two in the series, especially the second one were masterpieces.

Then they made this... this GTA+Tomb Raider hybrid.
It's not all bad but so much more could have been done better. I liked the cut scenes and graphics were nice. Guns have a nice variety and the golden gun collectibles were a nice idea. The gunfights are intense and the slow motion works as it should.

But then there's the bad... There's only so much whiskey a man can drink.. and apparently Max is unaffected but this. But ok, let's put that on the adrenaline rush.
But then again, the cheap whiskey might have soften Maxes brain. The cut scenes take Max to positions/hiding places that would either be impossible to reach without being spotted or are unnecessarily close to the bad guys. This is particularly evident in the office shoot out right before the big fire: The room is filled with military troops (pro soldiers?) and Max manages to sneak through the hall way behind a low desk/counter top. I mean...come on!

The damage modeling is terrible. I get body armor against small arms and even assault rifles in games. But when the enemy troop is just supposed to be tougher because he's bulky with a t-shirt.. I popped 5-6 assault rifle rounds to a guys chest and stomach at mid-range. And he STILL got up to shoot back. This was in slow motion and I saw the rounds hit, so there is no chance I missed. On another occasion, I emptied an Ingram clip into an armored soldier. No effect.
Also, a single pistol round to the chest can kill an armored soldier if it suits the games cut scene.

Then there are HUGE plot holes. At the stadium, Max is shot through the arm by a sniper. As we later see, the sniper is packing some serious firepower. A .50cal Barrett. Now this kind of a shot would rip the arm off or at the very least shatter the bone/veins. Never the less, Max does not bleed out and is all-around unaffected about the gun shot. The damn wound even heals within the story. Holy crap that is fast.
The other major facepalm moment is at the city gang area where the three rich kids are being kept hostage at gun point and one of them is shot (I won't say who, for the sake of spoilers). Max has a strategy... the room has 5-6 armed goons, as seen through the window. So Max thinks the best strategy is to barge in through the door with a pistol and yell "everyone freeze!". WHAT?!? Not surprisingly he's disarmed and held at gunpoint as well. At this point I was hoping they'd just shoot the guy on the spot and end the game.

And the camera is glitchy. It's really annoying to try and peek around a corner from cover when Max can't point the gun over a certain angle. And of course sometimes Maxs head blocks all visibility. I've killed four guys with a blind shot when I couldn't see them behind Maxs head. The "Last man standing"-slow motion shoot-the-guy-about-to-kill-you -drama is a nice feature but often Max is aiming the other way and even though the camera pans to the correct enemy, the crosshair/gun barrel is stuck on an obstacle/wall or pointed elsewhere and moving in sloooow motion to the actual target.

This kind of stuff makes the game a drag to play and the superb platform and concept is ruined. I wouldn't spend too much on this game. Rent it or get it from your discount bin. I would personally be super pissed if I paid full price for this.
