Max Payne 3 is no ordinary shooter it feels more like a big budget Hollywood summer blockbuster action movie that is fully interactive and you have fully control of it in the palm of your hands. Equally Mr Payne himself is such a big action movie star and the best part, you get to play him, you get to be him. It's all so beautiful done and superbly superb that you get a glimpse of what it's like to be an action hero, to be like the Holy Trinity (Schwarzenegger, Stallone and Wills) if you may.

The guys at Rockstar Games are truly talented and boy have they out done them selves here. First the gameplay its self is like no other, the cover system works great, Mr Payne's movements are very fluid and natural like a real person would. Above this there is bullet time where everything slows down and you can see bullets flying a la Matrix (the movie). And even when shoot and laying on the ground Mr Payne can turn and rotate 360 degrees shooting and defending himself. Then there is the bullet cam which follows a bullet and you get to watch it hit its target in spectacular fashion. Get close enough to an enemy and hit the trigger button and Mr Payne will pull some cool melee attack ending in an even cooler close range gun shoot to the head. It's pretty awesome, this the stuff childhood are made of.

Having never played any of the Max Payne games before Rockstar does a great job of telling me the Max Payne story here. They do this in the flashbacks. It's a great beautiful story featuring the current events in Brazil and Mr Payne's story in flashbacks with Mr Payne himself narrating and telling his own story. Rockstar somehow manages to blend gameplay and cutscenes perfectly, the transition is so smooth you hardly notice it. The story or the game its self it's presented like an epic action movie and Mr Payne is its action hero. He will shoot out enemies and RPG while hanging from a helicopter, he leaps from cars, boats, water towers or anything high enough head first towards enemies shooting, he jumps from one moving train to the other, and he will just take off into the air and shoot in bullet time. And he does all this spectacular shoot outs in slow motion for the full cinematic effect. Sometimes Mr Payne will just leap into the air shooting while you still trying to figure things out and it just never gets old leaping through the air shooting in slow motions. It really never does. Really .

Mr Payne being such a big action hero you will soon fall for him and you will feel for him you will feel his pain. This is a long game with lots of fighting and shooting and Mr Payne just never gets a break he is constantly engaged in gun fights all by him self with no one to help him. And very soon you will feel for him you will wish he can get a break from all this shooting. It's a relief when the credits start to roll and you know that now Mr Payne will get his much deserved break, that you will get your much deserved break too because you are him.

My only issues with Max Payne 3 are that, the game starts of slow with what seems like random kidnap attempts. Also to replenish your health you need to take pain killers so you will get into some shoot outs with no chance to win if your health is low and have no pain killers. But my biggest issue though have to be the sheer amount of dead body count. Mr Payne kills a lot of people, its feels like by the end of the game he have killed half the male population of Brazil. Even in a police station Mr Payne goes full force killing police officers.
