Max & The Magic Marker is simple in concept, but executed brilliantly.

I have been looking forward to this game a hell of a long time and finally downloaded it today. Boy, this game does not disappoint. From the charming Saturday morning cartoon-style visuals, to the playful music... This game oozes charm and achieves in creating a very potent sense of wonder.
Max & The Magic Marker is a platformer with a twist. Max can't jump very far, but he has his trusty Magic Marker to assist him. You can draw anything into the world with the Wii remote. This involves drawing bridges to cross large gaps, stairs to climb up and even things to crush enemies with amongst many others. While the game starts off relatively easy, the difficulty cranks up once you reach the second world. You are given less ink for your magic marker, so you have to be more precise with your inventions. It can be frustrating when you get stuck, but it is never impossible and I felt a great sense of reward when I manage to make it to the next level.

However, there are a few tiny problems with the game. Sometimes the physics with the things you've drawn can be a bit unpredictable. This can lead to accidental deaths and a few glitches (like being thrown from one side of the screen to the other). Thankfully, these problems don't crop up that often and don't hinder the experience at all overall.

Max & The magic Marker is a pretty lengthy game. For only 1000 Wii points you get many worlds (usually 4 or levels each). For completionists, you also have to collect things in every level, which unlocks some goodies in the 'extras' menu, adding a lot of replay value to an already lengthy game.

Aside from World of Goo, Max & The Magic Marker is by far the best Wiiware game I've played. It excels with a simple concept and pushes it to create a full experience that rivals a lot of retail Wii games. If you like original, innovative games that challenge your brain I can't recommend this game enough.
