Decent Game, not much value.

What can you say about Master of Defense? You build towers. That's pretty much the whole game in three words.

There is a decent variety in the towers. There is a special tower for attacking ground units, a special tower for attacking flying units, and a tower that can attack both ground and flying units, though that tower does less damage than it's more specialized brethren.

Each tower can be upgraded from 5 to 10 different levels, each level giving a boost to either damage, range, attack speed, or other similar effects. To upgrade a tower you must spend some gold, which you acquire by surviving an attack wave.

The gameplay is basically, you build up your towers along this long path. You are trying to kill different waves of enemies before the reach the end of the path.
If the monster get past your towers into your city, they will kill off some of your citizens. The reason this is bad is because you only have a certain number of citizens at the start of the campaign and the amount of gold you receive at the end of each wave is directly proportional to the number of citizens who survived that wave of monsters.

In addition to receiving gold after each wave, you will also receive XP points. These points can be used to get new abilities or enhance what you already have. The most interesting abilities you can get are Fire, Ice, and Poison. If you choose the Fire ability, you can place fire patches along your road, you can attack every ground unit that passes over it. This is sometimes better than towers because if your towers are overwhelmed, they might not even get a chance to attack every monster. You can enhance the individual fire patches with gold to make them do more direct damage and more damage over time. You can also further enhance the fire ability with XP points to increase the damage overall.

If you choose the Ice ability, you can build Ice Towers, which attack both ground and air units. The Ice Towers cause the monster to be either slowed or frozen, depending on how much you have enhanced the tower with gold and the Ice ability with XP Points.

If you choose the Poison ability, it adds damage over time Poison Damage to the multi-ground/air tower. The poison damage increases with the level of the tower and also the level of the poison ability.

Other abilities you can use your XP points include, Damage Boost, Range Boost, Attack Speed Boost, Resell Increase, Gold gained at round's end, Villager's resistance, and several others.

The ability boosting the Villager's resistance is interesting. If a monster makes it through the path and gets past your towers into your village, the villagers will try to fight him off. Their victory is determined by the remaining health of the monster and the resistance of the villagers. If they manage to defeat the monster, you will lose no villagers, even though the monster did manage to make it into your city.

Aside from the main campaign, there is a survival mode which pits you against wave after wave of monsters to see how long you can survive. The monster's Health is increased after every wave so each wave is incrementally harder to kill.

Master of Defense is a decent game, but doesn't offer much variety to the gameplay. The Survival Mode is definitely the most fun part of the game, as it can take many many waves to finish a game. This game seems a little pricey to me, considering the limited playtime. But overall, I had fun with it.
