I played through it hoping the hint of genius seen in the rest of the game would eventually shine through. It didn't.

The first DLC for Mass Effect - "Bring Down the Sky" - was good. It fit, for the most part, with the rest of the game. It was truly added content. However, this second DLC - "Pinnacle Station" - was horribly disappointing.

Before playing Pinnacle Station, I would have applauded BioWare for excluding that most annoying part of any RPG game, the arena. RPG games have them thrown in, it seems, to extend the payable time without having to put much thought or effort in. They often break the immersion of the game by how contrary to the rest of the storyline they are - "Hurry! We need to save the galaxy! But... we can take some time off to participate in an illegal fight club for little-to-no-reason." Two years later, BioWare vomited it into the game. Paying for the arena component I was relieved wasn't in the original game was unpleasant. Worse, it was released with bugs.

I bought it and played through it hoping the hint of genius seen in the rest of the game would eventually shine through. It didn't.
