Yes there are bugs, lots of them. But get past them and you'll find one of the best RPGs ever.

First off I'll say that Mass Effect is one of the only games that has almost taken the place of my #1 game. This game is incredible.

In Mass Effect, you are Commander Shepperd, a highly skilled, well known soldier of the Alliance. Your first mission is to find this so-called Prothean beacon on a planet called Eden Prime. You're accompanied by a soldier called a spectre. When there, you find another spectre who's gone rogue and ends up killing the spectre that was on your side.
Throughout the game you're trying to find evidence against him, and the story goes into something much, much bigger that makes you make some very hard decisions.

Gameplay wise, the game is very fun. You can choose 6 different classes, all with unique abilities that are categorized into tech, biotics, and strength (I think!). Strength being your skill with a gun.
In game you usually have to open a menu and choose what power you want to activate, which is a bit of a drag a lot of times. But it's well worth it if it means surviving. Or if you go the soldier class you can just blast everything in your path with a powerful assault rifle.
Other classes, like adept, revolve around using biotics which is a lot of fun. Over all, the gameplay is really fun.

The visuals in game are amazing. Sometimes to me it may look grainy, but it's not bad enough to take notice of.
But as in Mass Effect 2, the visuals and locations look incredible. Walking down the Citadel and seeing the park-like area is great to look at. Most planets are usually just bland with nothing but rocks and mountains and stuff, but they're still cool to look at.
Overall, the visuals are great.

The story of this game is possibly one of the best in any game ever, if not the best. like I said earlier, it starts off just trying to expose a rogue spectre to a council. But then you find out what he's doing, and you must save the galaxy. Humanity in Mass Effect is still like the new kid at school. No one really trusts them, cares about them, or anything like that. So as Shepperd, it's your job to prove your worth. Early in the game the council gives you the title of spectre to find Saren, the rogue spectre. But early in the game you do end up exposing him, so it's your job to find him and put a stop to his path of destruction. I don't want to spoil anything, but just know that the story is top-notch. Better than anything you might have ever played.

I don't know what else to mention. Mass Effect is definitely one of my favorite games of all time. The story, the planets, the side quests, the re-playability, the characters, the dialogue. Everything about this game is just amazing.
Only thing is the bugs of the game, if not for them I would have given it a 10. But I'm not one who usually judges bugs, but I must take off for it because of them.
But anyway, if you're a fan of RPGs, and/or shooters, then you should definitely pick this game up. Buy it, rent it, whatever floats your boat. This is truly a masterpiece among video games.
