The second best game in history, behind its successor.

As the opening to a series, it's one of the best games you will ever play. Tons to do, endless replay value and a fantastic story to boot. The only slight 'problem' with the game is the combat - it's not bad by any stretch but it's nothing special, especially comparing it to Mass Effect 2 and 3. That isn't a reason not to pick this up though. The story, the characters, the exploration, the character levelling, the loot - it's all fantastic - and it really leaves you with a bucketful of standout moments, not just for this game or the series but gaming as a whole. Nothing, for me, has come close to the wonder and amazement of... pretty much everything that happens in this game. A lot of huge choices to make as well make each Shepard and each playthrough unique. There are numerous character classes, focusing on Weapons, Biotics and Tech, or a mixture, so it really caters for how you want to play.
The story basically follows *insert name here* Shepard as he tries to tackle a new threat to the galaxy and save the universe, basically. There's too much to go into and I wouldn't want to ruin any of the discoveries for anybody reading this and wanting to play it. Just make sure you do play it! You won't regret it, then you can move onto no.2!
