In the first of this four part series, Jess McDonell explores four distinctive gamer types from the Completionist to the Speed Runner.
DARKSOULS RPG with multiples online pvp is mine. Still on it 24/7... DARK SOULS RULES!!! and worth all my $$$.
I'm a mostly a completionist but I can be mix of that, speed runer (mostly when it comes to mario) and extrovert.
I am definitely the completionist. I will spend long hours making sure I have the best gear from an RPG.
I'm a mix of all of these, I'm just all messed up, it really comes down to the game and how interesting the game is to me. As a whole though Completionist would most define me with a touch of Exterminator. For these 4.
Out of these 4 I'm an extrovert. I like helping out and playing with other people doing whatever in an MMO. If it's single player I like to have my character talk to everyone and generally be helpful and nice...sometimes. Unless I have an evil streak they I just take what I want and set people on fire...
completionist and exterminator lol i did play all through mass effect 1 just to play mass effect 2 i bought the same day of release
@towely62 I can't play through a game if it's a sequel or part of a trilogy without playing the first game in the franchise. It just kills me, feel like I'm missing out on so much. I will make exceptions though. Games like Call of Duty and Battlefield where I care little about the story and characters.
I'm a completionist to a certain extent. 100% is my goal even though it has been hard to reach at times with constant DLCs coming out. As long as I get 80% complete I'm happy. And on the other side of the coin I'm an extrovert.
Completionist!!!!! I've gotten 100% on every GTA from 3 and up! I beat Assassins Creed II 100%! I beat Beyond Good and Evil 100%! I beat all 3 Mass Effects with the same character and got to level 50! I put over 130 hours into Final Fantasy XII! Completionist!!! (or almost comlete)
Wrong: They are known to finish ME1 twice (once in hardcore mode) so that they could start ME2 at level 5 instead of level 3.
Just found out dynasty warriors is a great game for exterminators. You be like MWAHAHAHA, FALL BEFORE MY BLADE FOOLS. It's more fun than sites give them credit for
i think i am Completionist & Exterminator mixed........i love ARPG gamez....even MMOz but don't like 2 be 2 crowded.
So busy staring at her didn't hear a word she said.
Bah! Beautiful women have it tough to be taken seriously.
Exterminator =DYou're definitely right. I never get bored of grinding unless the gameplay is too crappy and unacceptable.
Depending on what game I play, I fluctuate between Completionist and Exterminator. I don't do speed runs and I don't play a lot of multiplayer games.
All of them.
Except maybe the Speed Runner.
I haven't raced through a game since the original Mario Brothers, once I learned where the warp tubes were...
I was definitely a completionist when it came to the Mass Effect games, absolutely loved that game and wanted to leave no stone unturned, otherwise none of these seem to apply.
Completionist/Exterminator for me. Especially for the first playthrough. I need to kill every enemy and speak to every person. In my first playthrough of Skyrim I had one quest glitch and every time I opened my questlist for the rest of the game I would cringe knowing I would never complete it.
I'm not a solid match for any of these. It depends on the game whether or not I'm a completionist or extrovert. I've never really felt the need to kill everything in a game so that rules out exterminator. And I like to take my time with games so I'm definitely not a speed runner.
I'm about as much of a completionist as you can get...got the platinum trophies for FF13, Dead Space 2, Uncharted 2, LBP, Batman: AA, Deus Ex, HR and more
I'll play pretty much anything :P
