Kevin VanOrd helps Shepard save the galaxy in this video review for Mass Effect 3.
Very well. After all the criticism, particularly of the ending, but not only, my longing to play this abated. Now, however, I'm stoked.
I actually dreamed Mass Effect the other night. It was weird yet awesome at the same time.
I just got M.E 3 for Christmas and when i popped it in my PS3 , i was struck of how ugly it looks . I have M.E 2 on the Xbox and i think it looks better then 3 . Then again ...
It may be in my head .....
But i got over that quickly and i feel it got a bit better further along in the game .
Though i'm not sure what is the problem here ; me , my tv (a Samsung 5 series hd 1080p ), that starting to age or is it the game ???
Not that it will keep me from enjoying the game .
For what it's worth, I watched a visuals comparison for Far Cry 3, between medium and max PC settings, X360 and PS3.
Oddly enough, on the PS3 it looked noticeably worse than on the X360.
@lunaticrichard ME3 has definitely better visuals than ME2. But my caveat is I've only played the ME series on the XBOX 360. I have an original release PS3 but only use it to play exclusive PS3 titles. Regardless stick with ME3, it's worth the journey :)
Best series this generation. I've been playing ME1 to 3 for the entire year. Possibly due in part to the releases this year, but none the less the ME series has been a wonderful universe to revisit and explore. Thank you Bioware.
please stop making scrap effect like this in future , the only game i regret on myself why am buying it is mc3 ...
@dandy34 If you are in a game for the story, for building up your character and his her relationship with other characters, basically to enjoy the journey with action sequences, playing 1,2 and 3 is the way to go.
I started with ME 2, but I realized that for the full experience, I would be better off building up my character since ME 1. The journey from 1 to 3 was then much more enjoyable.
If you are in for pure action, tactics, and FPS experrience, probably ME 3 won't give you your fill.
@dandy34 You can play 3 if you didn't play 1 and 2 .
In 3 they give you the back story , so that's no problem . But if u like RPG's i suggest you play 1 and 2 first . That way you get a lot more out of the games and you are more connected to 3 .
If you're not a RPG fan, play 3 as a action game , witch is an option in 3 . So you don't have to make conversation and get all the babble via cut scene's
@dandy34 You play Mass Effect for the story line which is pretty much one of the best RPG in the market. You don't have to play 1 & 2 but, I would highly recommend playing them just to see how your choices will impact ME3. The only sad thing is, you can't play the entire ME1 if you have a PS3. It is only available on the 360. I use to enjoy the entire serie on the 360 before making the switch to the PS3.
@dandy34 If you enjoy digging into the story of the games you play, you will regret not playing the first two games before the third. Otherwise its a decent action-rpg but not much more.
@gamefreak215jd I'm on my third playthrough, I really like it despite some parts in the ending :) , so many months and I still can get it out of my head
once more cause i didn't get the best ending.and also cause i love this game.
I have played game finished to and i have to say, I am not fan of the role playing at all and big time guns just don?t work for me, but there was time i was ready to cry for the characters in this awesome game, phenomenal game awesome graphics and live time story plot 10/10 as far i am concern first game i have enjoyed in years , salute to all my peeps on here
There is more cinematic bullcrap than gameplay in this game. Cmon I want to play game not watch a movie. That is so stupid.
when i saw the first trailer of mass effect 3 then i thought that it wasn't so cool game, but when i played it then it got on my Favorite game collection
Ending aside, I thought this game was outstanding. I don't think a game has ever gotten me so wrapped up in the world and it's characters. This is one of the only games that I can actually get completely lost in time while playing. There is just so much to do and so many reasons to replay wether it's developing older characters, or starting over with a completely new class. It's never ending fun.
I just completed the game.
-Cover system sucks
-I had to swap disc like 5 -10 times
-Stupid glitches like how it checks for downloading content for ever just because i disabled auto connect to EA.
-The ending.......i'm trying to figure out why was everybody upset about, i played all 3 btw.
If the cover system was like the gears of war cover system it would have been a better game.
@Pr0ving4Gr0undz did you see the original ending or the new endings? the first ending was bad: almost the same ending in all 3, all your choises didn't really matter at the end, the part with the god kid is plain dumb, the reason for the reaper to kiil all living beings is very dump (saving us from being killed by robots by killing us...really?!?!), the stupid dialogue at the end the grandfather telling his grangson about comder sheperd and the EA messege at the end telling us to buy DLCs. The new ending is ok not one of the best but not one of the worst.
I agree there were some flaws but the game was excellent. I enjoyed the ending as well. The flaws to me were minor and did not effect the gameplay. Great game...great series.
"Mass Effect 3 is a remarkably satisfying conclusion to a beloved trilogy" , it certainly wasn't! , The game as a whole does feel a lot different from the two previous games , the paragon and renegade paths don't really have any impact on the story or characters, the secondary quests which you can feel half finished and all the war assets stuff just never leads anywhere. The Story is by far the games biggest strength and some of the main missions which you accomplish are just out and out mind blowing. The combat is good and has a unique feel and there is a lot of varity on guns and customisation. However despite all its good things they forgot to focus on the one thing which sepurates the "amazing" from the "good" .... the ending
the best in it`s genre with sad but dramatic ending...I lived with Shepard for long time but i think his death made him the biggest legend in all games.
@mohammadatefrad whaaatttttt!?!?!?! dude how many games have you played? how about MASTE CHEIF from halo? how about SNAKE from metal gear solid? how about KRATOS from god of war? how about FENIX and DOM from gears of war? how about old school like DUKE NUKEM, SONIC, MARIO BROTHERS and LINK? shepard is a plain boring with a bad voice actor. Mohammad dont be a mass effect fanboy no body deserves that fate... i forgive u cuse your a noob. try playing other game series and realise how wrong you are.
*ending prediction*
No, I haven't played the game yet, however I have concluded by now, with all the complaints and bashing this game got that Shepard dies at the end. Actually maybe everyone dies no matter what your choice was. I'll have to see how the pacing towards the end is for myself, but if everyone dies (everyone meaning majority of the universe), that does kinda suck: an example of such BS is FFXIII-2 (most ridiculous name ever XD). I would only be okay with this if you were given a "chance" to fight through, no matter how slim.
I, personally, would love it if the ending was decided upon the success or failure of the final mission. For example, if you died past a certain point, you got the bleak ending and then if you succeeded, you'd be granted a better ending (you can still end up dead but with better results for everyone you love =3). Then, of course, your rates of success/difficulty of the final mission could be based upon your over-all gameplay decisions and who you have on your team. I'm still young and haven't played a ton of games, so I'm not quite sure, but I haven't really seen anyone do this in their games. When people die on the final mission, they can just restart and it doesn't give much suspense or urgency to the task.
This could also happen with the entire story, like if you failed a major mission, it would take you down a different road in the plot. That kind of realism could be pretty awesome if done right. And getting the perfect ending would mean successfully completing all the missions, saving everyone, etc... Especially if there's a freaking "impossible" mission, that would be a worthwhile goal to strive for no? Hell it would take a TON of writing and extra work, but it would bring a TON more depth to the game. Just my ideas on how a massive epic of an RP GAME would be like (only for hardcore rp players and overacheivers >w> )
I haven't payed the game, but I gotta tell you, that review is sick man. I love the way he narrates the game and the storyline.
The game itself was amazing, and your choices in the first two games make a HUGE difference in the plot of the third, during the game. It's a completely different game if you just played from 3 without importing. The problem is this, Bioware completely lied to the fans about the ending. No ifs, ands or buts about it. They specifically said that they wouldn't do some cookie cutter a, b, or c type ending and that is exactly what they ended up doing. A,B, or C, red, green, or blue. Those are your choices when it comes to the ending and it cheapens the entire series. Now, perhaps if they hadn't hyped it up so much the fans wouldn't be so upset? People, as a rule, don't enjoy being lied to. My personal opinion is that the game got the good ole EA rush treatment and that it's a miracle that the game was as good as it was. The game was fantastic the ending was a bag of shite. Next time they should maybe lay off the hype machine and then people won't be so upset, you can't claim artistic integrity as the reason for outright lying to your loyal fans who stuck with you for 3 $60 games and however many DLC's. My adivce to Bioware: fire the idiot who wrote that ending, tell EA to go screw, and lay off the hype and you'll be fine. Nothing out there comes anywhere close to this series, so kudos to them for that alone.
I hope that this isnt the end for the ME series, I would love another ME game were you dont play as Shepard and perhaps set along time after this one so we could see how the galaxy has changed, or on the other hand, set before the events of this trilogy, maybe when the proetheans were still around. Would be cool.
I enjoyed the journey from ME1 till ME3. The ending was limited in choice. Furthermore, after the long journey to Shepard's sacrifice, it was a bit shocking that her/his death did not have any impact on the your team mates and especially from her/his love mate.Building relationships was somthing important along the journey and the ending did not honour that.
One thing that, in my opinion, stood strong all the way was Jennifer Hale's voice acting.
