Mass Effect 3 is a gripping, nail biting, immersive experience that is hard to forget.

Difficulty:
Easy
Time Spent:
20 to 40 Hours
The Bottom Line:
"Immersive"
Mass Effect 3 is the third, and supposedly, final end to Commander Shepard's tale of heroism. Two previous games, each calculating approximately 40 hour experiences each, lead to easily the best game in the series which provides in--at times--a jaw dropping experience. Mass Effect 3 has proven to surpass expectations and calculate an experience that few games in the industry can match.

Mass Effect 3 brings forth a darker tone unseen in previous Mass Effect games. Death, destruction, and sacrifices are common--the most powerful force in the universe has finally come, and the known galaxy is faced with complete annihilation. The strong force to push forward through the game features the severity found in the first Mass Effect--this severity theme makes the game gripping, and nail-biting as you complete priority quests. All of which falters at the end creating a disappointing final conclusion--but don't fret as the rest of the game is absolutely amazing.

The side quests are fairly forgettable, and they can be easily obtained by walking around hearing conversations. The best part about Mass Effect 3 is the bringing forth past experiences in previous Mass Effect games which can bring a huge impact on the later stages of the game. It's hard not to deny that BioWare did a fantastic job going to tremendous ends at clearing up past relationships and interactions with other characters.

Another strong suit is the connection seen amongst the characters in Mass Effect. You'll grow attached to the familiar characters from previous games while newer characters like James are forgettable. Who is he again?

The combat is refined, and while not perfect, it does hold its own to be quite decent when juggling the various biotic powers, and weaponry. There is, of course, usual glitches and visual oddities--I even experienced a few crashes here and there, but for the most part, you'll be experiencing a pretty polished experience.

One of my favorite parts is just the sound design which holds up remarkably well--perhaps the best in its class with respect to fantastic voice acting and musical scores. The weapon effects and practically everything in the game holds up well in the sound design aspect. It's hard not to walk away impressed by what you experience in that regard.

Mass Effect 3 is a tremendous experience that should be experienced by every gamer. I can't recommend this game enough, however, it would be most wise to play the previous Mass Effect games first--your experience in the end will be 10X as better, or perhaps more.
