The clip is from Dexter season 6. The set up is basically the same as in Deception (i.e. Travis Marshall ate the cereal because he got a thrill out of it).

Couple that with the "auction selling a DNA bioweapon against TIM" at the beginning (which was ripped off of the Chuck season 4 episode, "Chuck Versus The Last Details" and we can quite clearly see that Dietz is a TV fan.

^ except Travis Marshall was a complete and utter crappy character.

Kai Leng was actually awesome before being a cereal thief

William C. Dietz gets instant +10 cool points for watching Dexter.

If my math is right that brings Dietz's total to

    -9990 cool points right?

How is there not an apocalyptic swarm of nerds descending upon his Twitter account right now? For all of the hate that he's received over the past few weeks, I'd expect a crap-ton of hate tweets, but upon doing a search of his username (@wcdietz), there's only a handful of them, and they're pretty tame.

Everything from that season was pure garbage save the last ten seconds.

People always say that. A show can still be good without radically changing the status quo all the time.

In this case, they're wrong. The entire season was basically treading water, with a lot of logical gaps, plot holes and conclusion jumps.

    I won't.

    Dexter. Great.

Few shows can maintain a consistent and good character, plot and narrative structure that ties the two together well. Dexter is one of these, though there are clearly weaker and stronger seasons. Californication is another. Chuck is another. Spartacus, Game of Thrones etc etc.

Oh, I love Chuck. And yes, Season 5 is quite weak.

Hold on a sec, I need to pull out the words you shoved in my mouth.Part of the problem was they were changing the status quo for one thing. Each season Dexter gets progressively more human, and for a show about a sociopath thats a bad thing. The subplot (hell even the villain) came across like someones fanfiction. The subplot surrounding the tech nerd was more interesting than the main plot and thats a bad thing. This season was also about as subtle as Nazi propaganda. Now I love the show, not nearly as much as the books mind you, but there were a lot of problems this season and I am not going to pretend they dont exist.

This, so much. IMO, the show stopped being interesting as soon as they killed off Doakes. Season 1 was great. Season 2 was less great, the only parts I really liked being Dexter's interactions with Doakes. I couldn't even get through Season 3; it just bored me. They definitely made a mistake by killing off Doakes so early.

    Spoiler I guess:

In the books, Doaks is still alive . Though his role was significantly reduced in book 2.

Yeah, Doakes was pretty awesome. The way he perceived Dexter was spot on. The way Dexter and Doakes interacted with each other was always awesome. Doakes. he made me laugh a lot too.
