Did anyone else find Thane’s scenes and death to be particularly touching? He was always a compelling and interesting character, but I found myself legitimately sad to see him depart. Mordin’s arc was satisfying too. For me those moments carried a lot more emotional weight than some of the more featured aspects of the story. As much as I love Legion his death left me disappointed and the Samara side mission was just awkward. Cortez was also high on the cheesy factor.
On a side note I think Shepard’s dreams and the ending sequence would have been much more effective had they used your fallen comrades. I never felt an emotional connection to the young boy who died in the shuttle. He was a nameless face. I’m not moved because he just happens to be a kid, I need more than that.

Like my favorite show The O'Reilly Factor when I post the spin stops here.

I didn't have any particularly strong reaction to Thane's demise, although I certainly respected that he went out fighting. I'd have to say Mordin's finale was the most touching in this game for me. Grunt's was fitting as well.
Your second paragraph is the prime example of what I consider to be the biggest downfall of ME3's single-player gameplay: A predetermined Shepard character. In previous games, especially ME1, Shepard didn't speak or feel unless the player did, and that was the greatest immersion. I grew attached to the characters around Shepard, because Shepard was me.
In ME3, the vast majority of the dialogue and emotion is forced upon the player without choice. Shepard is simply an uninteresting character I have to watch as I play through the game, not an avatar of my personality.
Aside from the ending, nothing in this game irritated me more than being constantly told that I should feel bad about some specific kid who died among the other 10 billion casualties on Earth. To build on the frustration, the writers even had other characters ask Shepard about his dreams and gave me multiple options to respond, none of which allowed me to say anything remotely resembling the truth.

In the modern world, "common sense" is an oxymoron.

I liked EDI and Liara (For my playthrough) hugging and crying at the memorial wall in the Synthesis ending. The way they look at each other all sad then hug was touching.

Resident Evil 5 had the greatest boss battle of all time. An entire fight dedicated to Jill Valentine's chest.

I loved the Genophage arc to death, especially the Mordin scenes in the tower.

Well, you can hear the voices of all your squadmates that have died throughout the series as you chase the kid.

But that would totally change the meaning because all the fallen comrades died in the line of duty. They mostly had heroic deaths, The kid is defenseless and dies an empty death.

The voices and shadows are creepy if you wander around a bit... especially @ 3 AM.

You can also hear Harbingers if you ran away enough.....however this is no longer in the game if you have the extended cut
