^^^^The story makes complete sense. People are just grasping at straws to sell the story short because they aren't happy with the ending. Halo's complaints were absurd. Really? Why did cerberaus attack Sur kesh? Its a freaking game. How does one human manage to unite the galaxy to defeat the reapers? Its fiction not rocket science.
See now you're just using a strawman setting up an argument to attack that the ones disagreeing with you aren't even making in the first place. AND cerberus attacked Sur Kesh because "its a game"? Um, its a story driven game, the plot points are supposed to make sense. Yes, everyone who is disappointed with me3 is just mad at the ending, not the fact that they gutted the series of its best attributes, made half of the big decisions you made in precious games not even matter all so they could turn it into a corridor firing range. If you think halo forever's points are ridiculous maybe you just wanted a mindless linear shooter all along.
And then you said you had "facts" to prove me3 was the best and all those facts were opinions.
The bottom line is this: Most fans of the series who have been playing since me1 are disappointed with the game as a whole and rightly so, because without even taking the ending into account, me3 watered down the best things about the franchise so they could make it more of an Michael Bay action game for the COD kids and the entire story is showered in around that.. If you prefer that then fine but the game was a disappointment for most longtime fans and it should be because it failed to deliver what was promised and it failed to deliver in the areas the series is best known for.

^^ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEf5VFKplzw - Mar 2, 2013 11:07 am GMTi always find it funny that people say ME3 is a watered down version of the series which as far as story goes, some may very well think that. and thats fine, i happen to disagree. but something that is not an opinion, is that when it comes to gameplay, ME2 is significantly "watered down" in comparison to both the other games because it has far less customization, no mods or anything similar, very few weapons, and a generic "in general" upgrade system with very little variance. the series established itself as somewhat of an RPG with the first game and ME2 removed nearly all of that and took out any real explration as well. ME3 put some of that back in. if ME3 is a "corridor shooter" then ME2 is something even lower than that as it has far less things that allow for it to be called an RPG in terms of gameplay.
despite that ive always said that anything i mentioned above does not discount its individual story and the way it was put together as it was most certainly a blast... even if it was mostly just filler until the inevitable invasion.

religion is flawed because man is flawed. no gods, no kings... only man. - Mar 2, 2013 3:41 pm GMTSorry jessica but metacritic states they are both at 93 and ME3 is way more impressive considering all its reviews. It is common sense really. I'm also not sure where your pulling your numbers from but Metacritic does not average its score just based off the numbers. The sites that are more popular than the other ones are worth more points. Don't believe me? Email Metacritic. They told me the way they average their scores a few years back.
I also never said Sur Kesh was alright because its a video game. I listed many reasons as to why Cerberaus attacked Sur Kesh.
1. The illusive man thought they had found a way to control the reapers there. (stated several times)
2. The illusive man didn't want the genophage cured because the Krogan would interfere with the interests of humanity.
This is just one example of people nitpicking the story or simply not paying attention.
I am also not saying my opinion is fact. All I'm saying is many people agree with me and several of them have posted already. The game is fantastic and so is the series. Thank you everyone and now im off to enjoy some chicken.

Oh and Persona 3 was better anyway.

- Mar 2, 2013 3:52 pm GMT...don't know why you care about scores at all. Especially considering how f***** the gaming media is at the moment. If you really want to compare scores why don't you take a gander at user reviews.
- Mar 2, 2013 4:01 pm GMTSorry but Metacritic is the far superior site because it has way more reviews that it takes into consideration. Just admit you have lost Jessica. Nice try though. Its kind of funny how far your willing to go to prove something you know your wrong at. Stop being a fangirl.

The Mass Effect series is my favorite series of all time! - Mar 2, 2013 4:03 pm GMTYes, because two sites that have both been caught altering review scores, allowing review bombs from fans and use review sources that are clearly taking money from publishers in return for high scores are reliable. Both sites are balls, you're both pathetic.

Like media reviews aren't? Please. - Mar 2, 2013 4:31 pm GMTDon't you love when haters say reviews are paid off? They did it with this game and they did it with DMC. Its pathetic. Do you guys really believe the stuff you say? Does it help you sleep better at night? Why is it Dead Space 3, one of EA's biggest games only average a 78 on metacritic? Why didn't they pay them off? So they payed off ME3 but not Dead Space 3? Really? Really guys? I have facts and valid arguments explaining all my points and all the haters have is lol reviews paid off. lol user reviews more credibile. Really? You can tell the difference between a valid argument and a haters argument. I will be here all day folks.

Seriously? That's your defense for this game?
The Game of the year awards are a f'n joke to begin with. Also, did you just pull the number 40 out of your ass? Sorry, nominations do not count.
Secondly, it only won RPG of the year awards, which is not saying much at all since barely any RPGs came out during the year of 2012. - Mar 2, 2013 4:39 pm GMTThe question isn't why Dead Space 3 only averaged a 78. The question is why it didn't score lower. Find me a mediocre AAA title in the last five years which averaged under a 70.
That you don't think gaming media is broken just shows how clueless you are about the industry and the control publishers have over publications by default, not to mention a number of situations which have arisen over the previous generation regarding firings or severely inflated scores in reviews prior to game release. - Mar 2, 2013 4:53 pm GMTFrom: ArnoldtheRed | #092

No, it didn't win that many
That and the ones that did were released previously (The Witcher) or just didn't get a whole lot of press (Dragon's Dogma)
Just to note, I don't actually think review scores should hold any merit, I was just pointing out other games scored better; I think everyone knows not to trust reviews these days in a post GTA4 and Kane & Lynch world

That's true. And ME3 had a bit more variety in guns, but the upgrades were linear and you could only really afford to upgrade a few. So if you're going the upgrade route (let alone purchasing a sniper rifle) you're still stuck with one of a few guns. And of course in each class there are a few that so utterly dominate in power they're the default choice.
For ME2 you had masses of missions and side-quests that you could complete in any order. ME3 was more like "head to the area you've just been told about, do you wish to do the local side-mission first?".
ME2 had some of the sense of Galactic exploration ME1 did. Not the size and scope and barrenness of space but at least had some sense of it.
By comparision ME3 was a corridor shooter. A very slick corridor shooter (if far too many ammo clips laying around) with lots of ME1/ME2 cameos, but as a game I would only recommend it to people who have played ME1 and ME2.
For ME1 and ME2 I would recommend them as stand-alone games to anyone.
