So I recently unlocked her and just did a quick search through the topics about her, but it seems like there isn't really a consensus about how to play her. What kind of playstyle should I be using with her? Mostly hit and run I take it, but I don't really know much else.

I advise you to use a different kit.

I play her like a solider, using Biotic Focus nonstop to be tanky.

I believe all of her poison stacks (if from different sources: melee, blades and poison strike)
Blades, heavy melee, poison strike, run away and get ready for another attack.
She rarely gets the kill because poison is so slow, but she can rack up the assists.

Skip Poison Strike completely and give Biotic Focus sheild regen. Give her good weapons, many shotguns work well on her. I tend to use close quarters weapons, but i don't see any reason why she wouldn't excel with other types as well. If you are playing Gold or above I'd advice putting weapon damage boosting equipment on, she is relying on pure damage, not some fancy splosions. She also takes a lot out of Cyclonic Modulators, so if you have some to spare it can be useful. I recommend Grenade Capacity if you have it. I often spam Nightshade Blades when I jump into a sticky situation where my guns won't cut it.
Generally you should play with her like a Human Soldier with a teleport move. She is far more durable, but with a bit less firepower. Works wonders for me, but a lot of people don't seem to like her.

Her dash is RIDICULOUSLY good, especially if you know the maps and have good awareness. Teleport out, shoot/use Nighshade Blades, teleport back into a safe position. With the DR and movement speed from Biotic Focus on top, she can avoid ever really being at risk by a lot of the slower enemies.
And her weapon passive is awesome, so she should be putting out solid damage with her guns.
Her only real problem is the fact that Nighshade Blades aren't quite powerful enough to be really awesome (Though that's with Explosive Blades - I'm currently leveling her up with the more damage up front option, which may prove more useful.)
Oh, and yeah, her Poison Strike isn't a major damage dealer. It's useful for invincibility frames/teleporting through walls, but her dash does a lot of that anyway. If you do take it, don't put too many points into it - she needs it elsewhere.

4/6/6/6/4
Or
4/6/6/4/6
Poison strike: Range
Blades: Either/range/exploding
Focus: Either/either/the one that restores shields
Passive: Weapon damage
Fitness: Health
A melee build can work, I just think a weapon build works better.
Make sure to keep your weight above 100 so you can spam focus and strike more.
Strike should not be used for damage, instead, use it for dashing through a wall, unloading a clip of bullets into everything, and dashing out.
Use the geth scanner with her so you don't dash into a platoon of phantoms.

Why take Poison Strike and the Geth Scanner? You can do what the former does with her dodge without loosing firepower, stability or the very important shields. Geth Scanner would be sweet, but without added Grenade Capacity, you will be loosing precious offensive capability. If you have a Geth Scanner 1 and a Grenade Capacity 1, go for the scanner, but 5 more Nightshade Blades is so much damage wasted.

Hit and run, hit and run, hit and run...
I'd advise taking Poison Strike to level four and taking range. You don't need a target to use it, so it's handy for getting yourself out of sticky situations. You can also use it to teleport through walls, which is a nice bonus.

The dodge gets you out of sticky situations while still allowing you to use Biotic Focus (increasing your survivability). From where would you take those points to get rank 4 Poison Strike. Decreasing shields is a stupid decision if you want to increase survivability, especially as she has the best Fitness in the game that works amazingly well with Biotic Focus shield regen. Biotic Focus must be at 6. No question about it. Nightshade Blades are far more useful than Poison Strike (I'd take it from here if someone pointed a gun at my head and forced me to take Poison Strike). She has the best gun damage/stability upgrades in the game, and since she uses mostly guns to kill her prey, skipping from this seems like a bad idea.

Geth Scanner for a melee build. Her heavy melee will teleport through a wall to cut off an enemy head, and you can't hit what you can't see. My build is great fun for silver. I haven't tried a gold run yet, but without points in Fitness I don't know if BF is enough to keep her alive and killing things.
