Any advice on how to keep the Reapers off my back while scanning planets?

Everytime you scan a planet in any of the systems conquered by the Reapers, they'll eventually start chasing me. I'm wondering if anyone has some quick ideas on how to scan without the Reapers knowing I'm there.

I know my first mistake was holding down LT. A quick tap of LT is all you need. Other than that, they'll detect you randomly, it seems.
