I really don't know where to start. I could tell you how the story telling is better than almost any Hollywood movie, or how the graphics have improved ten-fold or how you brain is gonna explode with the plot twist at the beginning.
It's all of these thing and more.
BioWare improved so many things in this sequel most importantly the combat. The combat is very similar to gears now with its in and out cover system. It doesn't flow as smoothly as gears but it does a better job than the previous game. Another important change is the fact that each gun has "ammo" now. They no longer have a cool down time after being shot too much you now pick up clips that let you cool off the gun. It may sound weird but it works like any other game. There are also less weapons and armor to pick up. Gone are the days of finding a new weapon and armor every 5 seconds you will now carry the same items longer.
The graphics have improved in every area of the game. There are less bland, repetitive environments compared to the first game. the character models have also vastly been upgraded.
Exploration has changed. You no longer have to plot courses and just jump to a planet you actually fly a little ship around the map to travel. It is kinda cool but it does seem a little tedious. Also in order to travel to far away portions of the galaxy you are required to buy upgrades to your ship.
Now i don't want to give away the story but you will be shocked and maybe upset with the direction of the game. They work a way of allowing you to make a new character even though the opening cutscene uses the "stock" shepherd model. I was a little upset with the beginning but it's growing on me.
It's only January but i know this game will take home GOTY this year, i can't think of a game that can top this not only this year but in the next coming years. Story telling has never been so seamlessly integrated into a game since Metal Gear and i can tell you this game makes the cutscenes look like they were made by a middle school student for homework.
go do yourself the favor and get a PC or an 360 and play this game
