Spider-Man PS4: By Insomniac Games And Marvel Games

(MILD SPOILERS AHEAD)

Story:

23 yr old Peter Parker has been struggling to make ends meet for a while now. He works at Octavius Laboratories, working for Otto Octavius (who else? lol), While Pursuing his role as Spider-Man, and saving the city from crime. He juggles both jobs, one that grants him the experience he wants to break into the scientific field, and the other, a hero trying to constantly save the city.

I got a PS4 gifted to me for Christmas and Spider-Man came free.

I Must Say That This Game (being my first PlayStation Exclusive and all), it did not disappoint, I knew it wasn't going to be bad, but I didn't expect to have as much fun as I ended up having.

Gameplay:

One Thing I Was Worried about was the gameplay, Particularly with the fighting being a bit like the game franchise "Batman: Arkham Series", I was scared that it would be repetitive and borrow a lot from that style of gameplay that the Arkham games (or at least from what I've played of them) go for, and while it does borrow some of that Arkham style, I can safely assure you that Spider-Man PS4 has enough in it to make that style it's own. Fighting Isn't Repetitive, it feels perfectly even. and some of the enemies can be a real big pain (even when Playing on The Friendly Neighbourhood Difficulty Setting, they managed to strike me down quite a few times).

Spider-Man Controls Perfectly, he never feels like he becomes an obstacle to play as.

One Thing Spider-Man PS4 Accomplishes Is That You Actually do feel like a Super-Hero While Playing, Whether it's Swinging through New York or even Fighting Crime!.

During The Story, You Get To Control Characters Such as Miles Morales, Mary Jane Watson and of course, Peter Parker (outside of his spider-man suit). Each has their own segments that play into the greater story.

the Non-Spider-Man GamePlay Are Fine And All But They Do Drag-On After A While, Example Being Mary Jane Who While Her Parts Aren't Terrible, Has Too Many Gameplay Parts And The Later Ones Feel As If They're shoe-horned in When The Actual Segments Could of Been told in 2 Sentences.

There are a lot of entertaining cutscenes in this game, but as we approach the end of the game (the final fight particularly), there aren't as many quick close situations where we have to wait for a time to hit a button on the controller, and sometimes the cutscenes just take over where else it woulda been fun to of at least been able to hit the main villain of the final level using those close situations I just mentioned. It is satisfying to see what happens, but it is not as satisfying to just sit back and let that much action happen without integrating us as the players into it much, It's Kinda sad.

As Spider-Man: You do get to unlock new abilities for him: Such As the Web Bomb, in which when either attached to an enemy or walked over when shot at the ground, it explodes webs everywhere and it's really pleasing. Another is a trip mine, in which, when aimed at the ground (or even a wall) or on an enemy, when an enemy triggers it, it'll pull the enemy immediately to the nearest object and defeat them for you (except the brutes)

There are lots of easter eggs to various Spider-Man and Marvel Media. That's all I'll Say.

You do get Suits to Unlock, some from the movies (such as the stark suit from Spider-Man: Homecoming and you get a bunch of suits upon just playing the game, such as Sam Raimi's Spider-Man Suit And The Webbed Suit From The Amazing Spider-Man 1 If You Are Playing The Remaster) You'll unlock these as you level up or complete missions.

Their's Mini Puzzles to go through as well, great challenges but shouldn't have been as many, a lot of them mainly felt like filler especially later on in the story.

What this game does really well though, is the setup of things. If you're a huge spider-man fan, there is going to be a lot of moments in which you know what's going to happen, but you dread it from happening and want it to happen at the same time.

There's pointless stuff for sure, but it's not bad there's not a lot about this game I personally do think is bad, I honestly had a hard time putting it down till the end of the campaign, it's very engaging.

Side Missions: Side Missions Are Really Great, if not, better than some of the main story missions. in one of the side missions, you're fighting a crime boss and it's extremely satisfying to play through, it goes by so quickly but I don't mind it, it's a strength.

The Voice Acting:

Yuri Lowenthal (known for his work on stuff like the Ben 10 franchise, Teen Titans etc.,), he's Peter Parker/Spider-Man and he does a really great job at bringing soul to the character of Peter Parker, He's not in my personal top 10 people who have voiced Spider-Man, but he did a great job.

Laura Bailey (Known for her roles in games like Gears 5, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth) plays Mary Jane Watson. Might I just say, WOW, she did an amazing job as this character, I didn't even know it was her till I edited this review, she just blended in so well.

Nadji Jeter (known for his roles in things like Reed Between the Lines and the Grown Ups films, as well as being the face for Coca Cola in 2011) Plays Miles Morales, He did a good job as this character, Miles is very captivating.

Insomniac Games stayed true to Spider-Man and the Spider-Man Universe, every decision they made and every criticism I have, I don't hold them against it, because the ending product is Amazing. Being Honest, I Wish This Was A Movie.

Overall (and as much as I have said some things about this game) I'm giving Spider-Man on the PS4 an 10/10, it's amazing, I can not wait for a sequel.
