Fun to play but still dissapointing!

User Rating: 8.5 | Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds PS3
Quick Facts: The previous title Marvel vs Capcom 2 came out about 10 years ago and had 56 playable characters.

Story: Story wise the game is lacking. Despite being hyped up by developers before its release about having an engaging story, it doesnt have that. After you hit start you go to Arcade mode and begin playing but there is no intro story for any one character you just begin to play. After you beat the game, you get a quick ending for the character you beat it with. By quick ending i mean it looks like something from a SUPER NINTENDO game. Just still picture and text at the bottom. After you play the game for a bit and earn points for just playing it, you then unlock intro movies. The total intro movies are 4, and if you were watching there website before release date, youve already seen these intro cut scenes with wolverine and ryu fighting each other.

Graphics: In making it the artsy colorful type graphics they made the game characters and environments look more vibrant, colorful and a pleasure to watch on screen when all the mayheim is happening.

Gameplay: By far its strongest point. Controls were simplified to just small medium heavy and special attack buttons. Though simpler it does take a bit to get used to it because you can hit medium attack button and dont know if your going to throw a punch or a kick depending where your opponent is. Moves are easier to pull off and there is even a SIMPLE mode that lets you pull off the crazy moves with a button press. This is a easy game to pick up by new comers and dificult to master for veterans.

Overall: Marvel vs Capcom 3 is like the crazy twin brother of Street fighter on drugs. Though it plays similar, MvC3 is meant to be fast paced mayheim with stuff blowing up on screen. It accomplishes that. Though alot of times you can get away with just button mashing to win.

DISSAPOINTING: Only 36 characters which feels like to little considering previous one had 56. I also question why they put in characters like MODOK, Taskmaster over more known characters like Carnage, Dr Strange, Daredevil,KingPin, etc... Also no mega man yet. It is also missing more unique costumes for characters and not just color swaps. Its lacking in story.. And just overall game is missing modes. All you get is an arcade mode, and a challenge mode to practice your moves, but challenge mode is not very helpful and is a bit of a pain to do.

BUY OR RENT: Playing the game, it overall feels rushed and incomplete. Like they purposely left things out to make it Downloadable content, things like modes, characters, stages and costumes. But the gameplay is fun and addicting to play online with someone of your same skill level. I would say despite its flaws its a worth buy, but if your a bit iffy, wait a few months to see what DLC they come out with, or if they introduce a Super MvC3.
