Modern Warfare took a bold risk in removing the Call of Duty series from its WWII roots, and succeeds in every way.

In Call of Duty 4, the story is much stronger than I expected based on earlier games. There are genuinely riveting moments in this game and one truly awe-inspiring one that packs an emotional punch I've never seen in a Call of Duty game before.
Gameplay (9/10): You've done this before, just with inferior weapons. Call of Duty 4 changes the rhythm of the action a little bit - you can strike from much farther away with much higher accuracy. Other than that, it is still the same good old gameplay: you move forward, encounter resistance, clear it and keep moving forward to stop more enemies from spawning. The standard shooter levels are interspersed with vehicle missions.
I've grown a little tired of this formula now, but I can't deny that it still works quite well. The novelty of the weapons gives you a little variation.
Multiplayer (N/A): I never played this game on Xbox Live, but all reports I've heard attest to it being quite brilliant.
Presentation (9.5/10): The new graphics engine looks great. The modern setting is pulled off perfectly, the weapons are flawless in both appearance and sound effects.
