After 10 years, this game is still a powerhouse!

Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 has always been my absolute favorite in the Vs. series, and remains my favorite to this day. Now with the added online multiplayer this game is even more addicting than it has ever been (I never thought it would be possible to do that). The game's online mode uses the net code of SSFII Turbo HD Remix, which is, hands-down, the best net code used for fighting games to date so that frantic, fast-paced, 3-on-3 action translates perfectly online. You have quick and custom scoreboard matches and the same with friendly matches with the option to join a room with up to 3 other players. Yes, 4 is the max even though HD Remix allows 6, but 4 keeps the pacing between matches much more manageable as matches with infinite time limits can last anywhere from just a few seconds to several minutes.

As good as the game looked in action even 10 years ago, it can look even slightly better now with their up-res options. You have a classic filter, which keeps all the original Dreamcast version's graphics and animation frames, you can chose between a crisp filter or a smooth filter. Though I'm not really sure what the difference is between the latter filters, they do make a difference to the graphics, so you might want to mess around with them to see which filter works best for your TV setup. You also have the choice of playing in Widescreen or normal view. Normal makes the screen a square and blackens the rest of the TV out, and wide screen simply widens the display to fit the TV you have, stretching out the stage slightly more than the characters, so don't you worry, it won't affect the gameplay at all.

You've got your arcade mode, practice mode and score attack mode intact and they play exactly like you remember (by way, this is a perfectly faithful port of the Dreamcast version, touted as the best version of the game ever made.....until now, of course). All of the characters are available from the outset, as well as their colors, so the one annoying aspect of the original MVC2, that horrible store, was removed. so really, you can't get a better version than on the PS3 or 360. Well, one thing would make this better; Cross-platform online play between PS3 and 360 gamers....oh well. This is for what gamers have been waiting and relentlessly asking for a few years, now, and the fact that it's finally here, and it plays exactly like you remember, plus flawless online play makes this the best 15 bucks you've ever spent on PSN or XBLA.
