I don't even know why this game was made... oh yeah, to get bad reviews

User Rating: 3.5 | Marvel: Ultimate Alliance GBA
Being a huge fan of the Marvel comic books, I really loved playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance with my friend on the PS2. Then I thought I'd give the GBA version a try. God am I stupid some times....Don't worry, I didn't bought this game, I knew someone who gladly accepted to give it to me to try it.

First thing, the game is completely different from it's console version. The first big difference is that you only have one character on screen. Also, the roster has been cut by half, limiting you to about 10 characters, and 5 or 6 more that do nothing but a special attack. You select 3 characters before a mission and change py pressing the L button. Press L and R to activate the 4th character's attack. Second major change; the game is a side-scroller. That explain why you only have one character. Oh and your characters dosen't level up. Instead, at the end of the level, you gain points that you can distribute in some categories like energy, life, attack, defence, etc.

Now, the big deception lies in about.... everything else. The graphics are not really good, the environments are dull. The enemies are limited to a number of 5 (Brawler, Grabber, Runner, Magician and Gunner) and they never attack more than 3 at a time. The only difference between the levels is that they change colors. Even tough the game follows the same story as the console version, the levels are WAY shorter, and not as nearly many. I completed te game in one hour and then minutes. The gameplay is weak, not entertaining, and very VERY repetitive. Here is what you have to do: keep on smashing the attack button and you should have no problems at all. Don't even bother trying to find other attacks. There are some, but completely useless. You don't even need to jump (Ok, i remember jumping once in the Atlantis level). I cannot really say about the sound because I was playing at night with my DS and I had the volume turned down. Once I got trough the game, I never played it again. Wait..... OK, I just turned it on, started a new game, played 5 minutes with Spidey and here is the result: sound = nothing near good. Music is somewhat ok but don't feel appropriate. The sound effects are just terrible.

Verdict: 3.5 For a somewhat reasonable roster of characters and boss.
