The ONLY Team-based superhero game that really cuts it. Nuff said!

This game isn't perfect, but it's the only one of it's kind that really does the superhero TEAM genre justice. It does many things well, including great graphics, the ability to mix and match heroes and heroines, good gameplay mechanics, and a creative story to tie everything together. As a comic book collector for 35 years...I like!

First off, it has a HUGE mix of heroes and you can team up whoever you want within the constraints of the story. Ever wanted to see Hulk return to the Avengers? Put in Iron Man, Cap and Thor! Want super baddies to save the day? Mix Venom and Magneto in with others! How about the X-men with Daredevil? Go right ahead! You unlock all of your favorites as you play through, and the ability to customize their upgrades is a huge plus. All of the upgrades are consistent with their power sets, so it's a real pleasure seeing these RPG elements available in a superhero game.

Secondly, the story has it's flaws but it's still good. I don't have Secret Wars but I do have The entire Civil War collection and this is a nice game adaptation of that landmark series. Seeing heroes side with either Cap or Iron Man is a nice mechanic that really brings flavor into the whole thing.

Thirdly, the combat is very engaging, with flashy effects rewarding your button mashing from time to time. The fusion mechanic in particular keeps things from getting too old and it's a huge kick being able to team up different heroes while going for that PSN trophy.

Where this game could have improved on, however, was the small touches here and there. After a while you get the feeling you're just mashing buttons and it would have helped if some small mini games along the way were put in just for variety. Some glitches could also obviously had been avoided if a little more time perhaps were put into testing.

Still, this is a great, entertaining game that deserves at least some playtime. Now, if only DC could do something like this with the Justice League..... (Justice League Heroes just didn't cut it for me)
