I wanted to love this game

I loved the X-men Legends games. I have played each of them more than twice. Actually, I played 2 up to the point of maxing out the character stats.
So Marvel Ulimate Alliance was a no brainer. I owned it on both PS3 and the X-box 360. Once again, I had played the story, and the extra missions to the point of maxing out the stats and getting all costumes. I only have two achievements left to get.
So I was excited about the possibility of the second game. We saw at the end of the first that Galactus was coming to Earth to seek his revenge. Instead, we get the worst story in recent Marvel history.
Sure I guess some liked the idea of the Marvel Superheroes being at each others throats, but through this story it turned Mr. Fantastic into a fascist, and Captain America into an idiot. " I don't agree with the registration law, so I have to beat up Iron Man to change it".
Honestly, I could have gotten past all of that if the game was as good as the first. However, this was not too be. Instead of visiting many of Marvels more spectacular areas, we get to spend our time in New York. Instead of having a large host of powers to choose from to create the version of a hero you want, you only get 4. The leveling up is pretty much out of your hands also.
This is a sad state, because adding that to you only getting 2 costumes, most of what made the first game fun has been taken away. The new Fusion powers are fun, but I would have also liked a big power for each of the heroes in case you find yourself alone on the battlefield.
I am eagerly awaiting the 3rd game. If there will be one. I just hope they return to what made the first one memorable, and forget the vast "improvements"
