Ultimate Alliance 2 keeps old super heroes on the front page of the newspapers.
The graphics are really good and the character models look awesome, with some minor problems, what will go unnoticed, unless you really look carefully. The environments are well designed and give the comic book felling a good name, even if they seem to lack some elements from time to time.
The game-play is a major strong point as you get to beat up vast armies with the heroes of your choosing. Aside from your usual punches and kicks you can also use the heroes special powers for range, AOE or target attacks. Fusing the characters powers to get flashy and powerful new attacks can be really fun, especially considering the ease with which the attacks can be used. Even if there area a lot of combinations, considering the impressive rooster, there area only a 3 types of attacks: guided, clearing and targeted. Even so the fights area always fun and never really get old.
The story itself is rather ridiculous and stretched thin, but thats something you might expect from a super hero game. While following the campaign you will gain access to some simulation mission which can be really fun and interesting (from kill as many enemies as you can, to hold the point and sneak around to rescue other heroes).
You also get to chose a path in the story which only influences some of you missions, and the character available.This offers some re-playability.
Music is nice, but nothing special and the voice acting seem a little of. The sound effect on the other hand are good and inspired and help set the mood.
Unfortunately the RPG elements have been reduced and now seem like some aspects not really worth your attention. But the fun fights make up for this aspect.
Collectibles and costumes also provide some variation, but most of the time you will be more concerned with fighting that spotting the items in narrow or remote areas...
Overall the game provides a action packed adventure, in witch the heroes combinations and diversity can provide hours of pure and simple fun.
