Martial heroes is an original MMORPG! Its virtually Guild Wars but with a blend of kick ass kung fu/kung fu culture!

Martial is a unique experience. An asian themed MMORPG has never really been highlighted in the european/american market, this may well be that there the american/european market has low requirements for this kind of genre. I am not suprised as the Asian culture and the English culture are so different. Martial Heroes was originally a korean game which has been translated to english.

Martial Heroes is a free MMORPG this means its free to download and there are no monthly fees. Firstly for a free game this is an excellent game. The gameplay is most similar with Guild Wars.

Firstly you can create your own character, choosing from four different classes Warrior (the standard tank), Assasin (stealth), Mage (Powerful spell caster) and finally the Monk (healer). There is some variety as to customizing your character as there are a few skins which can be selected for each class. But gender choices are varied as there is only one female which is the assasin.

In Martial heroes You have the ability to create Guilds have guild wars, have a one on one battle or just do some quests to level up. But Martial Heroes in some cases has even more features than Guild Wars! You can collect materials to create weapons e.g. mine for ores to create spears, swords, etc. You can sell your crafted items or founded items by creating a small stall, with the options to choose a name and price your items.

In Martial heroes you don't get the complexity that you do in Guild Wars with the mixture of Professions, except you get the choice of weapon classes these vary as to which character class you choose. The most common one would be the warrior as you can choose sword or spear or axe. All three weapon classes have their disadvantages and advantages. The weapons in MH are all asian themed with the use of enchanted fans to Halberts, this gives the players a great sense of the asian culture.

The most original functions in the game is that all the friends you add can be selected to different relationships these include siblings, friends, master/pupil, etc. This offers a great way of sorting our friends lists as it more easy to navigate. In the master and pupil relationship you can gain more exp as you train your student or be trained. but unlike GW you don't get a friendly menu but they often seem complex but this would be easily solved if you read the manual or forums.

The inventory in MH is actually very accesible and fun. As there are three inventory blocks to store all your items, you can also store them at towns in case you die. The music in MH is composed all by asian instruments which creates a original atmosphere almost like Jade Empire.

The Graphics in Martial Heroes isn't world class, but it is disappointingly average. But the beautiful landscapes with the theme of a mixture of Asian medieval and fantasy. The animations are not as smooth as I would of liked but with skills like that you expect from Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon really overshadows this flaw. The roster of different monsters and npcs is quite exciting as some of them look amazing especially fighting white tigers or a swarm of sowrd wielding wanderers.

The quests in this game is the biggest flaw. The quests are given by npcs using text base conversations which can be a tad boring. And most of the missions are very similar like kill 20 certain enemies but this can be overshown by the will to improve and level up. As there is always new cloting or weapons to be bought in just a difference of a few levels. This new clothing can just give you the advantage to defeat enemies.

What Martial Heroes achieves as an MMORPG is that it gives the name a new genre asian themed MMORPG. While it may not be in the ranks of World Of Warcraft. This is one of the best MMORPG I have ever played, given the fact that this game is FREE! I consider that to all MMORPG fans who are on a budget you must download this game!
