Mario Tennis is a good game for gamers without a next generation system.

User Rating: 9.6 | Mario Tennis GBC
Mario Tennis is a fun game but its simplicity makes it better suited for beginning gamers. The game puts you in the role of a male or female character sent to a tennis school. You are not permitted to leave the campus, but you can play matches with other students. The game explains the basic rules of tennis very well, such as scoring in individual games and overall in sets. The graphics in Mario Tennis aren’t bad for Game Boy Color but there is still room for improvement. You almost never see your full character, but when you do, it looks pretty good. The tennis courts are created very life like and the surroundings change at each different court that you are playing on. The world that you can walk around in is also created well and the areas are well laid out and it is simple to find your way around. The controls are very simple and easy to pick up. The D pad is used to move your character around the world and the court while the A and B buttons are used to hit different types of spin shots. There isn’t that much sound in Mario Tennis. There is just some background music while playing tennis and some contact sounds when you hit the ball. The sound quality isn’t great and some of the sounds are hard to distinguish. Mario Tennis is a fun game that is ideal for beginning gamers that are in search of easy gameplay. Gamers with a next generation console should pass on this game and upgrade to one of the newer tennis simulations.
