I just have to say that I enjoyed Mario Sports Mix. I completely disagree with this review in every aspect accept the fact that the computer AI is bad. I enjoy playing this with others and the game had more surprises than I expected. People should not always believe what they hear and should try things out for themselves.

GameSpot editor Tom Mc Shea mixes it up in this video review for Mario Sports Mix on the Wii.
I seriously had high hopes for this game... all well i guess im going to stick to playing Mario Strikes and Mario Kart.
wow...this game looks terrible...and mario strikers in one of my top 10 wii games. i wont be getting this.
another bad game by square. nintendo should not have released it. it should have been in development longer. i have this game, and played it for 30mins or so, and there really isnt much to this game
The game isn't good but neither the review is. Tom Mc Shea sounds like a robot on this. It's hard to believe in what he's saying.
meh, what did you expect? now please, Mario/Nintendo fans, please don't go and underrate my comment or say that i'm stupid and that I don't know what I'm talking about in your comments, but it's true. what did you expect?
@henrikstorm: Never knew they ENDED the mario party series can you give me proof on this?
@ColossalSevnty7 Obviously I am not the reviewer, but I think that was his point. There simply wasn't any substance to review. He presented what was there and it just happened to be so shallow that watchers/readers are left wondering "ok the game is bad, but isn't there anything else?" He answered that with a big ole no, at least in his interpretation.
Love most of the other mario games, like fotball(soccer), smash brawl and tennis. This one doesnt look ALL that terrible, but I havent played it yet. One of Nintendo's biggest mistakes was ending the Mario Party series. I've played all of them along with friends and family and we love it. Though I believe this review was a bit harsh, I dont think I share McShea's taste in games, because I normally disagree with his rating of games.
Nintendo needs to makemore classic games like galaxey and 2d ones if there making spiorts they need to say with the orginal sport not mario mushrooms
@johnnyauau, you are welcome to your opinion as well.how about you keep you opinion to yourself? We are all welcome to our own comments on here. Mine was neither offensive or wrong. The review was not well done and the comments have shown that.
@ColossalSevnty7. I don't think having a review explaining every little detail of this game would be in anyone's interest. Yes it's opinionated but you can't really force editors to be "perfect". Nor jump to conclusions or even try to appease everyone by only having high scores and happy reasons for playing this game. Most of all, Tom McShea shouldn't be criticizes for the way he review games. Doing that would have landed you in trouble. So watch your comment and hope for games that works to your taste.
Ok, I have been looking at all the comments on this review and what I think the problem here is not that the game scored so low but that the review lacked substance. It comes across as here's the game, it sucks and oh yea, it has only four game modes or something. When people come to gamespot for reviews they want the full monty. Give it all to us. Yes, it can score low but the review seemed very shallow. I personally love gamespot reviews. I come here all the time and check out games and reviews. This review felt wrong, it didn't bring anything to the table. It was like saying, I think this game sucks and that all I am telling you. This review should be taken down and redone. It just seems very "opinionated"
I'm a big Nintendo Wii fan. But this game does look shallow and lacking and not worth it. I'm sorry but Mario Baseball and Wii Sports are fun complete games. This just looks like some Mario Party games that will get old fast after a week. I know its rough to admit not every game is a gem, but this review (and the many others out there by the way that are similar to this one) are dead on. I love Mario playing Golf, Tennis and baseball as much as the next Nintendo fan, but this game just doesn't do it for the reasons said in this review. Avoid, avoid.. avoid.
Looks a hundred times deeper than FF Crystal Chronicles and look how high that game scores.
I really figured this game would be better but it looks pretty boring, eh I really can't say I'm not surprised with the way industry is nowadays.
WOW.. look at this nintenmob.. JESUS, every comment that has a negative view for the game has thumbs down to the max. It's really sad to see people being this single minded and hard headed JUST because Nintendo made it.
Is it me or has gamespot gotten in the habit of giving poor reviews of Wii games. I mean, I really use to like gamespot reviews but this is getting redonkulous.....
I though that it was a good game, it had some fun minigames and Final fantasy characters as well. but Mario fans probably own these sports titles in another form. Volleyball and Hockey were in Mario Party 5 Basketball has it's own game on ds and IDK about Dodgeball. I would recommend it if you've never played the Mario versions of these sports.
i played this game, IT WAS FREAKIN SICK! ITS SO FUN AND EPIC! the review they gave it is stupid, these gamespot ppl should check out the comments on peoplez opinionz CUZ WEERE ALL SAYING ITS GOOD
I was really apprehensive about this game when it was announced. It seems that my apprehension was correct. How Squenix and Nintendo together screw up any game is beyond me. It really begs the question as to why they even contemplated a game like this in the first place.
I love it when Tom MCshea gets to review a bad game. He is brutal. Good times, good times.
it isn't that bad i went play it at a friend's we had a little fun but this guy's voice and no background music is just making me sleepy and depressed
i thought mario tennis and soccer should of been in this. and mario basketball was awesome on the DS. Why not on the Wii?
@TomMcShea I think you should have considered more aspects of the game. You seemed to only care about gameplay. i know that's important, but it's not the only aspect of a game to rate. The game has a lot of stages that all seem good, it has 4 sports not like the usual one, it has good special moves, an online mode, good controls IMO, etc. Mario Power Tennis got an 8.9 and it only has one sport! I know it's may not be that good in your oppinion but you definitely under-rated it.
This game is amazing. THIS IS THE WORST REVIEW I HAVE EVER SEEN!!! he doesn't even consider any aspect of the game except computer AI basically. SO, it looks good to me. How would you improve it's gameplay? You can't, it's as good as a sports game can get. he complained about simplicity? So how would the controls be better. OF COURSE TO GRAB A BALL IN DODGEBALL YOU WOULD CLICK A BUTTON!!!! How else! It's the same as real life, grab the ball. Simple just like this game. IMO this guy just doesn't like this type of game, her shouldn't have reviewed it.
No background music, lame guy´s voice it appears to be on purpose to make the game look boring
A shame, it could've been a lot of fun. What's a bit weird, though, is the developer: SQUARE ENIX Co., LTD Games. Their portfolio subsists of 13 iPad conversions, this game and two Tales of Bearnsworth games. Huh? Why did Nintendo put this game in their hands in the first place? Odd.
