Mario Party is a great game with awesome mini-games, but even an extrodinary game like this has it's flaws.

User Rating: 8.2 | Mario Party N64
Mario Party is the first installment in the series, and it's a great game. The story consists of Mario and friends fighting to see who'll become the Super Star. Toad stops them and suggests they play mini-games and such, the ones found in Mario Party. The characters are, in no particular order: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Donkey Kong, Yoshi, and Wario.

The characters have to be chosen for a board. A board is where the characters roam to land on spaces. Only four players can go to a board at a time. In the game, you start out with 10 coins. You either land in a Blue space, Red space, Question Mark space, Chance time space, one player mini-game space, or Bowser space.
Blue Space- Gain 3 coins.

Red Space: Lose 3 coins.

Happening Space: This space triggers something on the board to happen. It can either be good or bad.

Chance Time Space: I personally like this space. It gives you the opportunitty to turn everything around and put you back ahead. With chance time, just about anything can happen, and it can be bad for you as well.

One Player Mini-Game Space: If you land in this space, you begin a one player mini-game. It's good news if you need more coins.

Bowser Space: The worst space. Bowser comes along and forces you to play his dreadful mini-games. There's a very small chance anyone can win those games.

Thats basically what you do in Mario Party. I recommend it, but it's the kind of game you would'nt want to play by yourself. It's something you should play with your friends. The game loses it's fun without other players to join in. The mini-games are all great and awesome, with a few exceptions. Some mini-games are just plain awful. Some of them requires you pressing your thumb against the control stick so hard your thumb will become sore. For the most part, the mini-games are great. The graphics weren't very good, but it was just a N64, and I was more interested in the method of gameplay. This game is great, awesome, and a must buy! Just make sure you have some friends to play it along with you, and you're set! I just love the ending, it was very satisfying, and I'm sure you'll find it the same way. There are many extras as well, such as the mini-game isle, so you don't have to worry about a short game. To finish the main game, you must collect 100 stars, then something happens, I won't spoil it.

Another thing I don't like though would have to be the enemies on the boards and such, like Peach's board. The piranha plant and goomba were too annoying and really affected the game. On Mario Party, you can't win on mini-game skill alone, you need much more than that only. However, at the end a player is awarded a star for something, like mini-games or happening spaces. With those stars at the end, you're chance of winning just boosts up.

All in all, Mario Party is a really good game. I suggest at least renting it, and trying it out with a few friends.:)
