A great MarioKart game that delivers straight-forward racing, pure and simple.

Mariokart DS brings the racing franchise to the Nintendo DS, and the game fits well. It may be simple, but that seems exactly the way the series should go.

Gameplay: 9/10
The game is simply racing, and that goes far for this franchise. Mario Kart works well, particularly on a portable system. Surprisingly, the D-Pad doesn't interfere in the gaming, designed for the use of a joystick (Like Super Mario DS, which didn't fare as well.)

Graphics: 9/10
The environments are extremely vivid, as in Super Mario 64, and are as vibrant and detailed as the Nintendo 64 edition of the game, possibly even more so.

The new version of the game brings a few new things to the table. Mission mode for example. No story attached, but it's still fun due to the variety of the missions. Multiplayer takes great advantage of the wireless system, allowing 8 players on a single system. The game is great overall, and a must-have for any DS system.
