With a long line of Mario kart games behind them Nintendo comes out with probably one of the best to date. The graphics are fantastic and the gameplay is spot on. Though i prefer playing with the pro controller the gamepad worked just as good when i had to use it. the addition of the antigravity areas was a little scary at first but once the game begin it felt and flowed very naturally.
Where mario kart fails it fails big time. The vs mode has been a staple of the mario kart games for well over a decade. To not have them in such a polished game felt like an utter failure on the part of nintendo. my second gripe wiht the game comes down to using the tablet screen in multiplayer mode. Why is it player one has to see all the screens instead of just their own. Im sure the answer has something to do with it might just be easier for the system to just show exactly what is on screen but it makes the playspace very small.
Beyond this Mario kart 8 was a brilliant game leaving me with high hopes for the future of this franchise.
