After years of mario kart 64, it continues to pull me into it's fun and competitive environment.

After 11 years of playing Mario Kart 64 I am still giggling like a child and blowing the wheels off Bowser and Luigi.

Mario Kart is one of the reasons I still have a Nintendo 64 and it's going to be the same reason until it stops working. It is a great game to play with friends or family or even alone.

Gameplay 9/10 - The most amazing gameplay I've come across in a racing game of this style. The fun tracks, awesome pickups, and the need to get firsts mixes in when racing.

Not only is there +10 pickups but there are also different modes of play like a personal favourite: Battle. Each player (up to 4) starts with three balloons strapped to the back of their kart and the sole mission of each player is to destroy all three balloons before theirs are. Using shells, stars, fake pickups, and even bananas to smash your opponent leaves lots of opportunity to set up traps and tactics.

Sound 8/10 - The never forgotten "Here we gooo!" is all I need to say. Each character has their own phrases and voices that sound exactly like the classic characters. Toad, Yoshi, Peach, Wario, Mario, Luigi, Donkey Kong, and Bowser will remind you that this is a mario game.

Aside from the voices, everything else also fits into the atmosphere of the game. From the sound of the kart's engine to the funny sound that plays after picking up a "pickup".

Story - N/A

Graphics 7/10 - For a N64 game that was made in 1997 the graphics for mario kart were not bad at all. The most important part was that you could tell the difference between the racers.

Aside from the characters. the race tracks were something to look at. Each with their own atmosphere and environment made it all blends in together nicely and just helps in the experience.

Overall 9/10 - By far my favourite game for the N64. Amazing competition and blend of gameplay really mixes in well and allows you to have fun for hours on end with family, friends, or even alone.

Mario Kart 64 is a game worth buying for those that still carry a Nintendo 64.
