So good it was re-released on the same system, apparently.

What many non old-school gamers don't know is that Mario & Luigi were around long before "Super Mario Brothers". Mario was actually introduced in Donkey Kong. But the first game named after him was Mario Brothers, a game that was heavily influenced by Joust. In this game Mario & Luigi became plumbers, exterminating pests who exit from pipes. The object of this game is for Mario or Luigi to defeat all the enemies coming out of pipes in the sides of the screen. Enemies must first be hit from below to flip them over, then touched to kick them off the screen. However, if an enemy is left upside down for too long, it will flip back over becoming faster than before. Coins also come out of the pipes, which the player collects for points. Sound familiar? This is the birthplace of the Super Mario Brothers legacy. But this game takes place on a set screen, instead of a side scrolling platform style.
