Although they did not win the gold, they definently didn't lose!

It's time for the Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games Review! For the Wii.

For years Mario and Sonic have been rivals, especially in the NES VS. Genesis days. However, SEGA and Nintendo decided to put their two biggest mascots in one game. Let's see how it turned out.

This game is pretty much, you guessed it, Mario and Sonic characters in Olympic sports like track, swimming, trampoline, and others. I was going to go over all the games, but there are a lot and I would be repeating myself. Why? Because all of these events involved flailing the Wii remote like crazy. This is a huge downfall for the game because it practically kills your arms. So much that I couldn't play it the next day because my arms were so sore.

Now not all of the games forced you to sacrifice your arms. Skeet, for example, has you shooting clay discs. Trampoline, you have to press buttons in a certain order which I liked. In Swimming, you do have to flail but each character has different movements.

The characters have different attributes so you need to pick the right character for the right event.

There are also Dream Events. One is Dream Race, which is pretty much a watered down version of Mario Kart. You run and try to avoid obstacles, and you can collect ? blocks to hinder your opponents.

You can play this game multiplayer and it is very fun. Too bad I can never play multiplayer.

There is also a gallery where you can learn facts about the olympics by playing minigames. I thought it was cool, but these minigames had nothing to do with the Olympics.

The graphics are pretty well done. However, you can tell that the developers were lazy when it came to outfits. They don't seem to change clothes for any events. Like in swimming, the characters are actually swimming in their regular clothes. First off, is that even allowed? Second of all, they would go faster if wearing bathing suits.

The controls....Oh wait I already said. Most of the controls involve flailing the Wiimote, however, some games don't.

There is an online mode, but it's just a leaderboard and you can't actually play people online.

You can also win medals for different things, like getting a penalty, going online and such.

Overall, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic games is not that bad. Sure the online mode is shallow and the game kills your arms, but it's pretty fun when you get used to it.

This game gets a 7.5 out of 10 with the title of Good.
